You need to look at your price , we could travel from Essex take down the tree and dispose for less than your local man including nights out full evening meals, with a gang of 4 men unless there is somthing not obvious in the photos

I did think the price your tree man quoted seems a lot, even if there are a few problems that are not clear from the photos. Clearly a good idea to get another quote or two.

Been said before, but sorry you got a few replies that were perhaps a bit harshly expressed about the non viability of it being taken down in exchange for the timber.

Take down is a take down. Photos show its in a tight place so needs to be done in the proper way with the safety side in mind.

The photos show whats required so nothing unexpected is what i am saying. No offence to you sir as you say you can travel with all that equipment and still do the job cheaper so how does one come to £4500 i would like to know

But the tree surgeons time isn't. Ok it's not onerous, or long winded, but why should it be free. How many times do you do an application for free and get consent, only for the 'client' to use another tree surgeon.
Only once and he got a bill for the service as per my term nd conditions.

Has anyone stopped to consider that the OP’s tree man might have whacked that price on it as he didn’t really want the job? I.e. I’ll price it silly so I don’t get it, and if I do get it I’ll bank a mega profit? Just speculating.

Or he’s subbin it out and will turn up for a cuppa,, and get the cream on the top ?
