It's also down to personal preference. I tend to find, as the nights draw in, I like the wood burner on. When the days are getting longer and Spring is, hopefully, just around the corner I can cope with the colder temperatures better and the burner may not be lit. I also like it lit if it's wet and damp rather than just cold.

My instinct told me to light it last night , the temperature told me not to . I was more comfortable without it to be honest .

I generally find I burn a surprising amount of logs jan and Feb and I'm nearing the middle of my stash, so anticipating running low. Made 2 new stores last year so hard to tell as yet if they are big enough. I suspect we aren't quite half way through the burning season yet

I always have  5 years or so of firewood at my place (don't sell any). I have a old house so normally have the two log burners  on from late August -May. Love burning wood!!

With two burners do you find your constantly collecting wood from the store?

2 burners here too, and feeding them is a pain in a way, but rewarding too...its using the wood I put the effort in to scrounging and processing.  i use ikea blue tote bags (doubled up) to carry the wood in, and an old pram so i can get 4 from the shed to the conservatory in one go.
