According to the comments on facebook.  One of the guys who was there said he survived but had a fractured collar bone and broke a few vertebrae.

As for where or when? no idea.

I must admit I watched it the once and don't particularly want to see it again.  Again, according to the comments there was no gob, just a back cut with the lads on the ground asking wtf was he thinking?

Definitely sobering stuff.

From the reading through the comments on the Facebook post he seems to be a live, a few broken bones later though.

Also there was some sort of incident report in the comments someone posted and seemed there was no use of a gob just straight back cut

Whats your take on it , should have climbed higher, or tried a xxxxx special felling cut? From the comfort of my armchair and having watched Beranek DVD the Coos bay may have got him home in better shape

I don't know what the situation was or anything else but looking at the video, I can't see why he didn't climb higher and just take it apart and take 30 minutes more.

EFAW F course had a video clip horror compilation

Worse one was some guy bouncing around on a rope like a rag doll whlist being repeatedly crushed by a huge log that was being rigged down.

Never become complacent when your site involves removing multiple trees that involve both felling from the ground and climbing dismantles.

This guy's thought process seemed to be trapped somewhere in between these two mindsets which means he never fully committed himself to climbing that tree properly ie anchoring his lifeline high up in the taller, more upright left hand stem to carry out the breakdown of the whole tree as you would usually expect when seeing a climber approach a tree like that.

PS if you're going to be felling out huge stems or branches from a climbing position within the tree you seriously need years of prior experience working up to the big stuff and a sharp 60cc+ saw.

Tragic video, hope the guy makes a full recovery.
