Getting to the yard early and looking out over the fields behind and just sitting watching for 10 min before anyone else arrives

Hugs from my children when I get back from a hard day.

Cooking a decent meal and everyone enjoying it.

Mooching across the fields to the river with my dog and sitting while he plays in it.

Seeing all the wildflowers come up in my natural lawn.

Welcoming each season. Spring with flowers and birds; Summer with garden veg and fruit; Autumn with the hedgelaying and ploughing matches and winter hedgelaying.

Is that more than three?

Breaking pointless rules is also a small pleasure.

1. Coffee, black as hell, at 5:30am

2. A damn fine glass of red on a summer's evening with the Mrs,  just when the breeze is taking the edge off the heat, and listening to Vaughan Williams- Lark Ascending

3. Evening walk with the hound
