Twin axle versus tri axle trailers - pros and cons?

@Big J you would appreciate the virtues of a tilt bed over any other trailer in the winter, there is nothing worse than wrestling skids covered in mud back into the hiding holes up the chuff of a trailer. You may lose a few kilos of payload but as your load is only two tonish that wont matter. They make a lot more sense for moving plant.

I havnt read the whole thread so I’m sure this has been mentioned, but tri-axle will go across fields better. I have a 3.5t plant trailer and it has the narrower tyres and only dual axles (I wanted maximum payload) but it’s a nightmare when loaded up with the digger and I want to go slightly off road accross a field for example- just sinks like a stone, Landy can’t then pull it and I have to unload it anyway and smooth the ruts over. Get a tri axle on the wider tyres they do would be my advice.

While I don't doubt the tri axle  would travel soft ground better, some of the 3 axle trailers I`ve seen use a smaller diameter wheel/tyre set up, bonus of lower deck height, but reduced ground clearance, could possibly be an issue in the woods?

Also OK in straight line massive scrub when you turn which will still pull truck up.

If only I could justify spending £7k on a trailer. It does everything!

There is no picture of that trailer tipped rear wards only side and then lowed rear to load machinery so dose it tip 3 ways or not

it does not, it's a sideways tipper only

One pic was partially tipped rear wards for rear loading.

 

Looking at other pics of the underside it looks capable of doing so if the rear ramp is removed.
