This came up last week on business in Northern Ireland

How many make it a daily end of day clean, check and sharpen ? air filter, saw visual and quick inspection and bar and chain plus oil way, chain brake quick clean ?

Who does emergency call outs and relies on saws ready to work ?

Sometimes morning, sometimes evening, but always sharp & sorted when I leave the yard. I loose money messing about with saws on-site & they are never sharpened or maintained as well either.

Visual inspection? No way.

Put it on the shelf, go indoors have a cup of tea.

If the chain is blunt I’ll sharpen it if I feel motivated, otherwise I’ll do it in the morning before the lads turn up.

I prefer to have my toppers and my 66 properly sharpened in a vice at home, my 357 and 441 usually get sharpened on site unless I have an early finish and it isn't beer garden weather.

The toppers and 66 don't tend to get blunt often whereas the medium saws do.

Always sharpen and blow out etc each night, like to know my kit will work nicely the next day?

HK how much kit do you have to maintain nightly?  Sometimes if i've had a late finish and there are 3/4 saws that need doing and i can't be assed!   So i do 1 or 2 and do the others early the next morning.
