having trouble with the courgettes  they seem to be growing  bulbus  on the start of the fruit only had 2 regular looking fruits off 4 plants  don't know what the problem is
Most of ours have been ok but we've had a few of the bulbous type. Bit weird. I'd like to know the reasons behind it.

We have got a few pumpkin plants, they had some mildew a few weeks back but SWMBO bought some copper treatment and they’ve picked up since then. Two plants are doing really well, the other three or four still catching up.

We built a frame out of three tripods of 1” timber with about 8 foot of 3/4” copper pipe across the top - the idea is that the plants will grow up the frame (it’s working up to now) and the copper will be strong enough to carry the weight of pumpkins in some kind of sling. She got the idea from Monty Don, apparently (not sure he used leftover copper pipe though!)
I'm growing ours up frames as well for the first time this year. Inspired by Monty's efforts. I think a lot of the Cucurbit type plants are climbers or at least ramblers.

I am not a pumpkin expert but I believe you have to pinch out the growth after the second pumpkin is forming so it grows big rather than more leaves. That's how you get big ones.

Look it up, it will be explained out there somewhere.

Too dry?

Pumpkins ans courgettes are very thirsty / hungry plants  & need loads of manure & water to really thrive

Yeah your probably right I do keep learning new stuff all time at minute I'm removing all the pumpkins to let the plant grow and have move root systems. I know I need to end up with just one pumpkin per plant when going for size.
