Full tool kit

After getting a new work shop I'm looking to get a complete tool kit so I'm not running back and forth with the same tools. Looking to spend in the region of £300. I'd like decent tools that will last.

 

Any one seen any good deals or recommend anything?

Endless socket set and a normal socket set with a torque bar and one of those magnets on a stick...

Copper mallet... oh and a decent set of Allen keys all are essential's I could not do with out.

Got the Halfords myself. Not the greatest but good enough

Depends on what tools you want to use. Personally I'd get some Halfords advanced kit. It's lifetime guaranteed and it's actually quite nice to use.

 

My basic toolkit:

1/4 socket set

3/8 socket set

1/2 socket set

2x spanner sets 6-32mm

Copper hammer and ball pein hammer

punches/drifts

screwdrivers

pliers

allen/torqs keys

allen keys in 1/2 drive

 

Should pick most of that in halfords for less than 300 quid.

The trouble is that if you buy "sets", you get a load of kit you will never use. Best buy a few bits of decent quality kit that you will use all the time.

If you are working on saws and other hand held kit, T bars are always useful. Long hex drives in 5 & 6mm, T20, T25 and T27 drives. Long reach sockets, get a decent set of pliers, grips in different sizes, NWS make some nice kit and not bad value.

 

One thing you could do is buy cheap on the first pass, see what you use a heck of a lot and then replace with quality - that is what I have done. You can buy cheap from markets, ebay and Poundland and have a whole tool board for £50 and then spend the rest over 6 months once you know what your needs actually are.

 

One bit of kit you must have is a T27 Stihl T bar ......gets used lots!
