Looks very interesting obviously more work for the hard working Loler inspector, testing both gates, but I can see its uses.

 

Karabiner or Carabiner I have always spelt it with a K is this Americanising of our English again!

And the nice thing from a safety point of view is that if one gate doesn't close properly at least you have another one to fall back on.
