Solo Tree Work

Some thoughts and footage on working alone. Its about 25 mins. Cant remember what the deal is in the Uk regarding. Maybe some of you have a similar setup to mine ?

Couldn't agree more Reg - I don't 'do' tree work but rig wire rope cableways over rivers all over the UK and often work on my own. I have finally obtained permission from the necessary authorities (and insurers) to do this, but it has taken a long time and lots of paperwork.

 

Better a competent lone worker who is looking out for himself rather than having to have a second person along who, at times, can be more of a distraction and hinderance than a help.

HSE say a rescue climber should be on site if aerial tree operations are to take place.

Ive solo work climbed,im a adult,i know the risks.

Id say its up to the individual to assess the situation.

Totally agree with every thing you said.

 

Every thing is about money.

 

Refresher training, Trade associations, most of the HS BS, etc, etc….. there is generally some talentless wannabe behind it, wanting to make a few quid off the back of the working man.

 

As for assholes telling tails and stirring the manure, they are every where mate, mores the pity

Thanks for sharing Reg. I have no real opinions on the hazards of loan working. I'm very much a crack on and get it done kinda guy. I would have less concern for my own safety though and more concern for some idiot deciding to walk into the drop zone. I assume you are picky what areas you do this in though!

 

That camera angle is hideous though I have to say, hurt my eyes watching it, sorry!

thanks for sharing. id be worried about the dropzone being safe from the public, that second set of eyes can be important at times, ive lost count how many times ive had to tell people to keep away.
