Vaguely related to this thread, I've just got a new chain for my MS 261, as I damaged a drive link or two when it came off a day or two ago. I run a 14" bar on it, basically it's the one for the MSA 300 and while looking, I found out that it's a full chisel. ( Apparently ). Seems odd to me, I hope I can just sharpen it normally as I would a semi chisel, normal round files.

Any thoughts or advice on this gratefully received as always.

If its " round ground " full chiz ( most likely ) then yes , the appropriate round file . If its " square ground " full chiz ( unlikely ) then no . You would need the proper files for square ground .

I use yellow crayon.

I’m not allowed pens.

Does yellow taste the best?

I can normally tell where I've started sharpening by the shine off the cutter being a little brighter than the others.

I use a black permanent marker so I can have a little sniff and headbuzz to spice the tedium of sharpening.

I like my chemicals and solvents - one marker pen doesn't even get close 😉

Full chisel is actually easier to sharpen since you can see the perfect point on top of the cutter when you're done.
