  3. If all else has been eliminated then possibly crank seals leaking. Using the saw on a different plane can cause loads to be transferred differently to when the saw is used in a cross cutting action, and can highlight a leak. Most often I see this with hedge cutters. Work fine until you try to use them on the side of a hedge and similar thing happens.
  4. 2 posts in 2 years see you in 2026 🀣
  5. Sounds like brilliant fun. I'd jump at it if it was near me.
  6. Request some demosπŸ‘ all the different manufacturers will let you try these machines for a day. Having owned TW, GM and Forst myself I wouldn't look back from the 3 Forsts we have now. Give them all a try, they all have their pros and cons
  7. I need a better Asimov challenge. That one has never got a reply. You could argue the lack of reply is the proof but it doesn't feel conclusive enough. I want to force the thing into admitting it's a robot.
  8. Wordle 1,043 5/6 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ 🟨🟨🟨⬜⬜ 🟩🟨🟨🟨⬜ 🟩⬜🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  9. I stick to larch or Douglas fir myself bomb proof
  10. I think the dodgy links get edited in after the post is approved.
  11. It was this article that made me lose any respect I had for the arb association
  12. What is a ballpark figure for a set of cs100 blades? (I’ve got the Italian Peruzzo copy on tracks but I believe it is identical to the cs100)
  13. Our forst experiences match micks. Great machine when it running well but the brake downs were regular. In fairness redwood did sort them but frustrated with the Agro it causes doesn’t come close
  14. Amazes me people advertise something without pics or a website link.
  15. Get them to change the fuel to the "Correct fuel" while you are present and then make your mind up. With machines like this, I usually strip the carb, check the gauze strainer, check and generally raise the needle metering arm like ADW said, make sure all the diaphragms are OK, change the fuel filter and sometimes remove the H&L screws and get a bit of carb cleaner down them. I would normally open the H&L screws another 1/2 turn on how they were set and then try it. Most saws will give in by then and work fine with just a final adjustment to get the revs right. Using Aspen may sometimes require a slight richening of the L screw but the "wrong fuel"....it isn't like you are loading it with coal is it.
  16. Why don’t you share some photos so people can see what you have?
  17. Just personal experience. I had an ST8, terrible machine, worst chipper I ever owned.
  18. Aye I’ve heard you say that before … personally my experience of them and the machines has never been a bad one, I think unfortunately you will always get one or two machines from anywhere that will be like that but I’ve never heard any one really say anything bad about them other than the paint work…. and the new ones are mostly galvanised anyway. I had a 220mx with thousands of hours on and it was still on its original bearings but my TW needs a new set every 300 hrs !
  19. Why avoid the fΓΆrst I had one on hire and didn’t think it was too bad.
  20. A mate has had Schleisings for years, always buys new from Overland, won’t have anything else. The last one he had was/is a total dog from new and Overland were pretty hopeless - I’d have been a lot less patient than my friend (it should have gone back for a full refund but they had him dragging it up and down the country several times for repairs with no compensation and no offer of a loan machine). I’d personally never deal with them after seeing how he was treated (and he still won’t speak badly of them!).
  21. The day rate including the 4 men and chipper plus profit machinery hire is separate sorry should have probaly said this at first.
  22. If you are based near overland you won’t go wrong with a schliesing… I’m nowhere near them in fact the other end of the country but would not look at any other make of chipper since running them.. they have always been helpful for parts and they are pretty swift and the machine does every thing I ask and is most importantly reliable and built like tank. If you plan on replacing the machine every three years you won’t go wrong with any of the other brands.
  23. Hi everyone. We have a variety of slabs for sale in varying lengths and widths. Species range from Beech(spalted and non spalted), Cedar, Oak, Yew, Cherry and Pine. We can supply individually or in bulk. If anyone is interested please do not hesitate to get in contact. We are also looking for other places to distribute this so if anyone has any leads, that would be most helpful.
  24. Scots pine is durable if its heart wood.
  25. I'm not that good at this game as my limited vocabulary is a bit pants to say the least. But, I'm getting better. Wordle 1,043 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟩 ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ 🟨🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 I had a quick Google and apparently there are more than 12,000 five letter words in the English language. Bollocks, there's no way there are that many any number of words in the whole wide world!
  26. Thats a very healthy budget! TW230 or GM Evo 165 would be my recommendations To avoid….. FΓΆrst
