  5. The Duke of Westminster's inheritance of the multibillion-pound Grosvenor estate, often reported around £9-£10 billion, was largely exempt from the standard 40% UK inheritance tax due to the use of complex, long-established trust structures. These trusts hold the assets, meaning they do not pass directly to the heir and therefore avoid immediate, massive death duties. Key details regarding this inheritance: Trust Structure: The estate is managed by trustees, separating legal ownership from the family, which keeps the assets outside individual, taxable estates upon death. Periodic Charges: While avoiding the 40% inheritance tax, such trusts are subject to a 6% "periodic charge" every 10 years, which acts as a form of tax, though it is significantly lower than standard inheritance tax. Estate Protection: These structures are designed to maintain the integrity of large, historical landholdings and businesses across generations rather than to specifically evade taxes. Legal Position: The use of trusts in this manner is legal, and the Grosvenor estate is considered one of the highest taxpayers in the UK through income tax, corporate tax, and other levies, despite avoiding inheritance tax

  7. Yes quite a lot actually. I agree we are all being played to an extent. But also many of us are playing. When someone like Elon Musk creates a company and does very well (let’s remember it will do well only if he provides something many people are willing to pay for) and creates tens of thousands of extremely well paid jobs, is that playing us all?
  8. So the Prosperity Institute. Controlled by four directors, only one of whom resides in the UK. Predominantly funded by a Dubai-based investment company that also funds GB News. (There seem to be questions around the owner of the investment group's links to Russia.) The balance of donations to the institute facing some controversy over funding transparency. This all seems like exactly the shadowy influence and dirty money that Mr Booby is trying to tackle. The "large group of pieces who are not always visible in the game but are able to manipulate both the main players and the pawns, and even change the board entirely to a completely different game, but usually with the same goal." That you were referring to in this post:- Us common people are all in the same boat, we're all on the same side. We're being played by the mega rich and powerful. As you say. Am I missing something?
  9. Well he should have said that! He said “Millionaires and Billionaires”. Many millions of people in the UK are millionaires. And you need to remember that the reason for paying no Inheritance tax is that the assets are in trust and that instead the trust pays other taxes. Namely the trusts pay 6% tax every ten years. Not just on inheritance but potentially several times in an average lifetime. So as usual it is a myth that the country is awash with rich people paying no tax. My landlord is also worth billions and when he died and his son inherited the titles and estates the IHT bill was over £70 million.
  10. The Duke of Westminster inherited a 10billion estate and payed no tax at all on it. That's the sort of wealth that should be taxed. He is an example of the super rich that Polanski is referring to.. https://www.currypopeck.com/news/trust-enabled-duke-of-westminster-to-avoid-billions-in-tax/

  13. For locking while you're on the road, you should look for a coupler latch lock. It’s basically a small padlock with a long pin that goes through the handle on the hitch. This keeps the latch from popping open while you're driving and makes it harder for someone to unhitch the chipper if you stop at a shop. You can also get a locking hitch pin to make sure no one takes the whole ball mount off your vehicle.

This is a lightly used IROSS firewood saw/Processor in fantastic condition. Model IROSS MX470CD NT. Bought as an ex-demo in 2017 and I used it only a handful of times before I packed in my firewood business. It has since been dry stored in a barn. There is some very light surface rust here and there (only visible on close inspection) but I can get pics on request. Aside from this it's literally like new. Will run off a compact tractor, I used it on the back of a 26hp Kubota (its a bit on the heavy side for it but will just move it). Otherwise the jack legs could be replaced for castors to save them digging into the ground and take some of the weight. The blade is in perfect condition, cuts like butter it really is a fantastic machine and produces nice clean logs. The 4m belt is height/angle adjustable and can be fed straight into an IBC or trailer etc which saves a lot of time and double handling etc. Please get in touch any questions, collection ideally but could possibly deliver within the northwest for a fee. 17. Wow, some really outstanding (and fairly disabling!?) northern brewing contributions, there from Peter1955 Thanks for sharing ! I'm just thinking maybe a little brewery tour is needed ( using bikes and van perhaps ), to check these specialties out ? -Maybe when the weather is a bit less wintery tho!
  18. Good luck. Hopefully, someone in your area reads your cv and can take you on
  19. What has happened to the Green party? I actually voted green once or twice many years ago. That makes me shudder now. At an event over the weekend Zack Polanski said in a speech that "...multi-millionaires and billionaires. They have taken our power, our wealth, our democracy and we are here to take it back." For some reason he forgot to mention that the top 1% of earners in the Uk pay currently a higher overall tax rate than at any time in history. Or to put it into figures the top 1% of earners pay currently 29% of all UK income tax. So I guess he mis-spoke and what he meant to say is "Thank God we still have quite a few super wealthy people left in the UK as we really would be screwed without them." Unless he really said what he meant in which case he and his party have become extremely dangerous to our cost of living, our public services and at the same time they could reasonably be accused of stirring up division and jealousy. Or have I missed something?

  22. The MSA 220.1 T offers an outstanding performance to professionals carrying our tree removal and crown maintenance tasks. Now, boasting a lighter weight and increased torque for improved productivity. Providing 10% more torque compared to its predecessor, the MSA 220.0 T, the updated design can now be used with STIHL’s AP 200 S battery, which is compatible with the MSA 220.1 T’s new ‘Power Boost’ feature. This allows the model to temporarily draw on the battery’s peak electrical output of 1.8kW, while offering a standard output of 1.25 kW. The saw’s compatibility with the AP 200 S also delivers an improved user experience by lightening the machine’s overall weight, reducing user fatigue. Further comfort is granted by the MSA 220.1 T’s 2-in-1 strop adaptor, which also contributes to a lighter weight. For ease-of-use, ergonomic transportation on climbing harnesses is enabled, thanks to the saw’s comfort ring, allowing for simple attachment to a carabiner clip. Just like the MSA 220.0, the MSA 220.1 T delivers 2.1kW of electrical power with STIHL’s AP 300 S battery, providing up to 29 minutes of working time. For longer use requirements, the AP 500 S can also be used. Also contributing to an improved user experience, the new saw provides a longer active time upon the pressing of its ergonomic trigger system. The new and improved model comes equipped with an adjustable oil pump and an 180° LED display, ensuring the operator always has a clear overview of the operating status of the saw and the chain brake position. In addition, the MSA 220.1 T has an oil sensor that notifies the user when the chain oil tank is empty, helping to reduce downtime. Other features include side-mounted chain tensioning, a captive nut on the sprocket cover, and tool-free oil tank cap. The MSA 220. 1 T also has an easy-to-clean air filter for long service life and optimum motor cooling. For more information on the STIHL MSA 220.1 T, visit www.stihl.co.uk.
