Going to swap the current STIHL pole saw we’ve had for years out for something newer. Heard the battery ones are quite up to scratch. Want one with a good reach though nonetheless. Cheers

Woodland costs
Paul in the woods replied to Firemanrickski's topic in Forestry and Woodland management
To be honest, your post sounds like an ideal customer of the woodlotting companies. 3 acres isn't a big patch and I would guess the prices will be similar to woodlands. It is worth looking around their web site as they provide some useful info. I bought a piece of woodland well over 10 years ago now and looked at some of the woodlotted plots and spoke to some of the woodlotting people. They offer a service and price accordingly. You could always buy a much larger area than 3 acres and sell off what you don't need. I ended up looking at much larger areas, I even viewed some large woodlands that were subsequently woodlotted so I got a good idea of prices. If you have an area in mind then trawl through all the estate agents of that area and track down the ones that deal with agricultural land, fields, bits of woodland etc. The piece I ended up buying was almost an afterthought on some paddocks for sale for horses. Sometimes farms are broken up and a suitable bit of woodland can be found. I think for such a small piece the price will be be dependant on the area and it's hard to give even a vague idea of price, it's likely to be far more than a commercial forestry price. I'd look at smallwoods magazine for ideas on insurers, I could dig up the details if you need them. I ended up extending our house insurance to cover our woodland. -

Its when you put a longer bar into a bigger log for a given size power head . Put a 20" bar on a 50cc and use 18" of it as opposed to a 15" bar in a smaller log and only using 12" of it . On the 20" you are asking it to drag more cutters through the wood than you are on the 15" .

Problem with 'just needs his signature'... all good, he can sign it away however Trump has asked them to start, and they have done, an investigation into Clinton and others. Anything that is evidence in those investigations will not be available or will be heavily redacted in case public knowledge could be used to influence future juries. He hasn't suddenly changed his tune overnight to hang himself, he has put in place a procedure to keep a lot of the files locked away for another few years. Any of the incriminating videos and photos cannot be released either if the images contain a minor (schoolgirls / schoolboys). JP Morgan Chase were chasing (excuse that one) the $$ that Epstein was sending their way. I think they have paid some compensation out for this? Khashoggi - only half listened to that clip last night, Trump was saying something like "Many people didn't like him anyway".. so that is OK, 'we' didn't like him so it is OK to murder him.

You are right to watch out for sharks like woodlands.co.uk Sometimes the ownership rights these people offer is very sketchy and your "plot" is in the middle of a much larger woodland block with no access. The price can vary hugely - £10k an acre used to be the rule, but commercial blocks or planning potential can boost the price. Plus proximity to towns and wealthy areas and good access will boost the amenity value for people like you. I think technically there is a limit on the number of night for a private campsite (60 days?) which should be plenty. It would be unusual but check for a restrictive covenant against overnight stays. There is a lot of discretionary costs that you can make - pruning, thinning, replanting etc. Compulsory costs would probably be limited to fencing and branches falling through fences, especially where the neighbours are livestock farmers. If access is shared there may be road repair costs. If the woodland is part of a grant scheme or accreditation, this will come with conditions. You'd want public liability insurance.

Primer bulb pulling air but not the usual suspects.
bmp01 replied to jarrick's topic in Maintenance help
Yes that should happen. Now open each screw, one at a time and tell us which one is allowing the air through…. I think that’s ok too. You are blowing into the metering chamber only, so long as you have the little valve and it’s gubbins plus the diaphragm in place. That’s the chamber where fuel is supplied to the jets….. So here you are creating a little bit of pressure on the fuel side of the jets, you are blowing through the main jet and low speed jets in the direction they are supposed to work. The one way valve in the main jet should be open in this direction. With the low speed circuit there is sometimes a little one way valve at the entry to the low speed circuit, which would also be open in this direction. What is not ok is the purge bulb (or you) being able to suck through the main jet one way valve. And it’s not ok, being able to suck through the low speed circuit one way valve if there is one, less of a big deal, but still not good. Worth mentioning, both one way valves are often a little leaky with air, less so with fuel in them. Secondly, if the purge button pops back really slow and fills with air, its likely the fuel filter inside the carb is probably blocked …. bulb can’t suck fuel so it does what it can and sucks air, through the jets. And finally, leaky fuel line (between carb and bulb) or the bulb itself will allow air into bulb, I think this is pretty obvious. But less obvious maybe is that a leak in this area can easily allow air to be sucked into the carb metering chamber when engine is running…. Food for thought. -

So the file release just needs his signature now! Larry Summers has now been dragged into the mire along with Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn founder) and apparently JP Morgan Chase 😳 Now DJT is cuddling up to crown Prince Salman of Khashoggi fame to get a few deals done and possibly selling the Saudis some F35 aircraft
