Is the 2500 really comparable to the 2511, like the waffle says? Usable for medium removals?

was chatting with a surveyor employed by Gristwood and Toms, he used to climb for them, now they put him up in Travelodges and various councils have them in to go round looking at their trees. G&T often arent the cutting contractors for these councils, but they provide knowledgeable bods. Didnt ask him what training G&T gave him, probably PTI course at least.

bloody insult to mention that Echo on the same thread as all these other cheaper compromises. My Stihl 160T still in one piece, but I would rather have the Echo. 56V proper commercial machine worth a weeks wage for the full kit with 2 batts

Shhhh Aim for ears 👂 Finally I'm not au fait with American white tail deer 😂😂 Much of a muchness Elmer I think you will find. You will have to excuse me but I’ve no time nor patience for a man who boasts of his shooting prowess online. You’ve already occupied too much of it.

Possibly Phaeolus schweinitzii, mostly found on softwoods but can affect hardwoods

I chip any slabs that are 8" or less, stack the larger ones with a 2" sticker between layers and process after 6 months into firewood for myself and also for a local mobile sauna company (they want small length, and anything from kindling size to decent log size) If using a processor there will be a huge variation in size. For my own fire I process without the knife and if there's anything too chunky it gets a tap with the axe when filling a basket for the house from the woodshed. Only mill larch, Cedar and Douglas at the mill and it all burns well in a 12kw stove

The echo dsc2500 seems so over looked in favour of this things, get the battery echo which is way more capable. By far the best saw I have ever bought.

Not ear wounds. Over 20 years of deer control and culling I have taken 2 headshots for welfare reasons, the one quoted was a bag of bones I spotted with a severe limp and stalked up to just under 80m iirc, she had laid down in a hollow and there was a barbed topped wire fence between us. I could have walked around 4-600m to get a better shot but I would have been winded by her or I might have bumped another deer on the way, I dialled in for 80 or whatever the rangefinder said and as there was an inch of crown showing I thought that it was on. Unfortunately the shot went right of the aim point, possibly it touched a grass stalk, and put a neat hole through her lug, and the only blood was a splash where she was and no trace along the trail she ran. I got her in exactly the same place a few days later in the same circumstances but this time I dropped her and that's how I knew I'd hit her lug, her teeth were worn flat to the gums/jawbone and was literally a bag of bones and wasn't lardered just left out for hoodies etc close to a high seat to entice a fox onto it. I've shot hoodies out beyond 200 and punched paper at Bisley and other ranges out to 500, at 100 I'm happy to say I will cloverleaf using my home loads and BT's. Finally I'm not au fait with American white tail deer but I do know my shot placement on Roe, fallow and red.

Look forward to hearing how you get on with the Fakita, if it’s any good, for the money it’s a no brainer. Where do you get spare chains from though?

Things like the trees in the London parks normally managed by big tree firms . But I do recall few years ago surrey council wanting a climber / office bod and they were to oversee consultancy and tree teams ...for that they were offering 33k a year and also needed a degree to do the job too. I await the usual twats to comment . But I looked at it and thought it wasn't worth the wnk

Thanks for your help ! I'll get an Oregon 124mlea041 bar and a 3/4" .043 chain, apparently compatible with 2511 tes.

Can anyone recommend a manual tyre changing tool for small tyres?
Macpherson replied to Muddy42's topic in Maintenance help
Or if you were really stuck you could do this, but proper tyre lube makes it easier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWd5vwUeYno -

Thanks 👍 I have thought about that. I've had colleagues who have gone down that route. If I'm honest with myself I still love the industry were in, just maybe need some time away from the production side of it. Maybe it's the places I've worked but I've had enough of removing trees that dont need to be or reducing trees to the customers spec regardless of the tree health. One idea would be consultancy (ideally self employed) or working in the London parks. Again I have very little knowledge of how either of those jobs actually work. Do you have any experience with either of the two ?

OK, lighting blue touchpaper and retiring: I went into a local branch of my regular suppliers, and asked for 5l of Synth plus. They only had Forest Plus in 5l. Was I right to walk out without purchasing any? It's not urgent, I just happened to be passing. I subscribe to the doctrine of " if it ain't broke, don't fix it ", and Synth Plus has worked well for me. Sorry for re-igniting the debate.

The Fakita appears good, it does have a proper oiler and reasonably sized brushless motor. It is a 1/4" chain. I like the mini narrow bars. 1.5kg without battery, 2.1kg with Makita battery.
