  2. Hi, I'm similar although I've probably no more than 15 old saws, thank feck😁 But I do have 2 K650's and 2 Stihl TS410's so if it's any help but I'd say they're designed not to rev out like a saw but just to reach a certain rev limit and then 4 stroke, probably to protect them from thick guy's on a building site. You said it yourself, put it through some stone, concrete or whatever and listen to the tone of the 4 stroking, you'll have heard it a thousand times ringing out from builders working near you and probably never thought about it... hedge trimmers are similar. To me the most important thing about them is that they start reliably with a couple of pulls hot or cold and tick over without stalling, I do quite a lot of stonework and it's very wearing on the wrist if this is not the case. Found this , so 4700 rpm.... Cheers. 6. Morning all, High of 13 forecast! Small job today, before a not so small one tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after and so on.
  7. I’ve looked at those small chippers too. The gx420 15hp ones are fine, but feeding them can be a pain. The hydraulic feed makes it easier, but the price jumps up. For small jobs and chipping in someone’s garden, the basic ones usually do the job if you don’t mind feeding it by hand.

  14. I know, but yesterday was quite unusual. People just kept rocking up. It's not a big site. I'm too used to working on my own, at my speed I suppose. Happy to share, but this was beyond that. Uncomfortable.
  15. Never say never Bob ! 😀
  16. Good Morning Hoping for a quiet day. Yesterday was bonkers. Have a good one..

  20. Morning all. Spending this morning on a laptop doing compliance stuff, can't avoid it any longer unfortunately, the accreditation process is looming. Once I've waded through that it's forwarding timber on the clearance site to finish the day. Have a good one folks.

  23. Thanks both Spud and Pleasant for the info. The low is fine, it's just the H is giving me grief. Spud, what rpm do you tach them too? It's either rev limiting quite low or 4 stroking at quite a low rpm, I've tried to find the sweet spot between 4 stroking and the rev limit but can't quite get it. I'll try to set it cutting to see if I can feel it then, but it's not like a chainsaw! Re ADW, I haven't really seen much politics on here, it is a huge loss if experienced people of which there are fewer and fewer left, leave this site especially as it caters for mainly UK users, which as we know has it's own type of saw usage. I for sure will miss his invaluable knowledge. I just ignore the politics and just take on board the info that is posted here. I'm sure most people find this part of all forums quite tedious but it seems to be part and parcel of all forms of media these days, I stay away from social media as a person of a advanced years!! I can do without all that sh1t!! I would like to take the opportunity to thank all OP's who contribute to a genuine, interesting, informative site and as a person who has limited arb experience, but has a big interest in working on and rebuilding saws for my own use and for friends and neighbours. As a retired engineer it gives me an interest and a hobby with a relatively low cost, ( probably have 60 saws) it keeps the grey matter working.
