  2. That may invalidate your insurance, I know of someone who has been told by their insurance company not to turn 'safety' systems off such as lane assist. I gather some manufacturers systems are better than others and I hope they improve. Personally I found lane assist unsuitable for the roads around here as you tend to frequently drive over one side of your lane to avoid potholes, debris and emerging cars etc. The car I drove had a tendency to violently steer you into something it couldn't see. I know of a couple of people where the emergency braking has been applied for no reason.
  3. Then they can be easy enough to turn on, if you want them. You get into a hire car and it does shit like that by default. Miserable.
  4. Calm down Chicken Little. They’re easy enough to turn off.
  5. Yes you are. Where are they made?
  6. I can now officially say that I've been appointed by Doyle Machinery to sell their Ufkes Greentec offering. Further details to follow. I always thought highly of their kit so will be a pleasure to represent them! Thanks for all the messages of goodwill received from a variety of folk since I walked away from GreenMech after a 27 year position.
  7. Today
  8. I agree with Stubby. These things are monstrously dangerous. They can turn a good driver from calmly attentive into a nervous wreck with knuckles white on the wheel, spending more brainpower on wondering what the car's going to do next than focusing on the road.
  9. Graeme B

    Bearsden

    Easy access from road.
  10. I would not want that Mick . Its another step toward the taking of control away from the driver .I don't like the " invisible " hand that grabs the steering wheel if the " brain " thinks you are wandering out of your lane . There was some road works on the M27 with lots of over banding and painted out lines , temporary painted in lines ( thinner that the permanent lines ) and it lost the plot !
  11. Too small, low.
  12. There was a guy I worked with down in Kent had a couple of these, basically a Shogun/Pajero with a different body shape if I remember right? He had one stripped out and ply lined like a van with a false floor, winch, 4” lift and mud terrains, it would go anywhere and carry loads of kit. pretty sure he had another one chopped in half and converted into a outdoor kitchen for camping. Grey market imports are difficult to reregister here though.

    Hope Allotments

Hi. I am after some woods chips to be used for paths and borders in the allotment. There is easy access to allotment where chips could be dropped off.
  14. Yup, saw this on TV last night and made a suitable donation. It is a nice part of the world, you should take a trip up there (Kielder on the edge of this plot of land is one of the UKs dark skies areas - great for stars, and the RAF will blast up and down there every now and then to wake you up). For reference just east of the middle of the country, about 25 to 30 miles from Blyth so not too far away from any of us.
  15. That’s really helpful, cheers Mick. I’d partially agree re the 200, the young team who turn up with battered old ones they found in a bin and ’rebuilt’ who think they’ve got a unicorn are deluded. A thrashed saw is a thrashed saw. But they were decent work horses, with pretty simple mechanics and if looked after they never really let up. If I could get another one fresh out the box I would snap it up in a heartbeat.
  16. Hornets nest in it. mission abandoned.
  17. Is Toadie still in it? Karl and Susan must be dead by now?

  19. Morning! Tough times Pete! I can imagine what it must be like! much better drive to site this morning, sitting having my roll and coffee before I start
  20. We eat out a lot in Italy but in towns and villages far away from tourist areas where there’s no hope of an English menu. Logs the fact I can literally take a photo of a menu and chatgpt will translate the dishes. It does have it uses!

  22. Traumatic day yesterday and more of the same today! I've told my loved ones to put me in an institution if I get the condition too! Walk away and don't look back! Charmouth beach or some such to occupy a couple of hours. Be good y'all! Pull, Liszt, Surprise.
  23. Morning all, Managed to mow my grass yesterday. I keep kidding myself it will be the last cut of the year. Weighing in a trailer load of sweepings then a couple of quotes.
  24. If you was WELSH Mick that would be 5/6 days in a day 😁
  25. I listened to some talk by a women and it was about learning in schools. Obviously about retention of knowledge but saying how actually writing stuff down lodges in our brains better then work on screens, lots of schools do stuff on tablets and laptops. I for one know that if I write stuff down in a diary I will be more likely to remember it! If only I could find where I put that diary! As a consequence of loosing said diary I now use the calender on my phone, helpful because my wife can add stuff to the calendar.

  27. Hello, I'm planning to buy a Jonsered 2163 next week and give it a near-complete makeover. I'll start by cleaning it as thoroughly as possible. After that, I intend to paint the red plastic parts using Rit Dye, but I'm not sure which specific Rit Dye color or type to use. Can anyone recommend the right one for the plastic components?
