Missing the point, Im not going to replace my 2511, UC002 or 020T. These pruning saws are supposed to be quite a bit smaller and more compact than a top handle, and I do a lot of work where that would be a great help. The Makita UC029 is a lot bigger than I expected, unsure how much use it will get. I'll keep it anyway for the free battery promotion. I have the UC002 which is a great battery saw and similar total weight to the DCS2500. Its a bit bigger, half a size up, more power and better batteries. Much better than a 2511 for removals, feels like double the power. Chains from ebay or amazon. Or you could put a fancy Stihl picco 1/4", but nothing wrong with the standard chains. I have joined some to use on my 2511 before...

Dont waste £20 on the new Jurassic park movie is my bit of news for the day. Internet AI must have sucked all the special effects out of the movie industry as my kids dinosaur sticker book is more true to life. On the plus side I only bought it off Sky, I didnt spend the best part of 100 squid taking them to the pictures.

Too thick for what? My 020T, 2511 and G372XP gobbled 20 litres of Rotatech with no issue. What saw were you using? Might be due some maintence or you have the oiler turned right down to minimum? The £34, 20 litre listing I shared on the previous page, they have several different viscosities to choose from.

until you buy 25l of something new and unsuitable. I bought 25l of rotatech bar oil. Its too thick so i have to thin it on every refill with diesel.

Both over priced, what do you hope to gain from using Stihl branded oil? You can get 20L of good oil for under £40, delivered. 5L containers are an extremely expensive way to get it. Suits home owners that might use only a couple litres a year, I only bought it like that the first time.

Yes. Use what makes you happy, if they didn't have the oil you want then every time you fill the saw up you'd look at it and be disappointed.

Hi there, I have a Lime tree that was topped maybe 20 or so years ago. My question is can it be thinned out, leaving most of the tree there or should it be cut back to the knuckle? Thanks, G

We are happy to accept hardwood or softwood logs. Clean wood chips of all kinds. We DO NOT want bindweed or ground elder in the mix though please. If we have fresh fruit, eggs or vegetables we will happily pay in fresh food.

was chatting with a surveyor employed by Gristwood and Toms, he used to climb for them, now they put him up in Travelodges and various councils have them in to go round looking at their trees. G&T often arent the cutting contractors for these councils, but they provide knowledgeable bods. Didnt ask him what training G&T gave him, probably PTI course at least.

bloody insult to mention that Echo on the same thread as all these other cheaper compromises. My Stihl 160T still in one piece, but I would rather have the Echo. 56V proper commercial machine worth a weeks wage for the full kit with 2 batts

I chip any slabs that are 8" or less, stack the larger ones with a 2" sticker between layers and process after 6 months into firewood for myself and also for a local mobile sauna company (they want small length, and anything from kindling size to decent log size) If using a processor there will be a huge variation in size. For my own fire I process without the knife and if there's anything too chunky it gets a tap with the axe when filling a basket for the house from the woodshed. Only mill larch, Cedar and Douglas at the mill and it all burns well in a 12kw stove
