  1. Past hour
  2. Bitte
  3. I'm saying teach the basics of rigging along with the basics of aerial chainsaw use. Of course you'd have your tree climbing and aerial Rescue before doing the others, it's a prequisite. Whether or not candidates pass the assessments is down to them and their assessor on the day. The bar is pretty low, but that's where it's been put by the awarding bodies.
  4. Danke
  5. Not an assessment schedule but a fairly detailed course schedule https://www.landesforsten.de/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/skt-b-lehrgangsunterlagen-anmeldung-programm.pdf
  6. Yes, please.
  7. For the German SKT-B?
  8. Spot on, Rich Let's also remember that Tree Climbing&Aerial Rescue is a prerequisite for Chainsaw from a Rope & Harness. Both of which are required before you can do Aerial Rigging. But sure, let's let candidates start rigging when their climbing or cutting competence hasn't even been assessed...
  9. I meant the training schedule from the awarding body, describing what's on the course and what competencies you have to show to pass etc.
  10. Because I'm interested enough to ask you, but not interested enough to look for it myself Rope climbing techniques trainings | EDELRID EDELRID.COM Working safely in trees is no problem thanks to our rope climbing technique trainings. Our range of courses includes basic training as well as special courses.
  11. Somebody has to say it. Try the 'Whatsapp' app. 🤣
  12. Personally I think it's a dog toy of some description.
  13. I have to disagree. Some of the muppets barely pass the CS39 or whatever it is called these days. Would you really want them swinging heavy lumps around d on a rope? Just let them get/ thy need experience with work positioning and comfortable, safe use of chainsaw in a tree. Then teach them rigging techniques. Accident happen when people are expected to do thing outside their ability. Also a large numbers of climbers think their ability is much higher than what they are able to actually achieve.
  14. Today
  15. Not worth its own post, but spent yesterday making up half dozen of these for the local community woodland groups kids - scrap pallets, 3 left over bolts and a handful of screws. Folding saw horses so the kids keep their fingers protected from the saw blades a little.
  16. Can you post a link to the course details please.

    Top handle saws

Speaking as someone who bought a similar £70 top handle just for fencing so i didnt ruin my 020 , you are spot on mick.
  18. Hi guys, What friction cord would you be running on this, maybe cousin armadillo 10mm?
  19. Hello! I found this recently in Croxteth Park, Liverpool, UK, whilst walking my dog. I assume that it is tree resin that has formed inside a hollow branch or trunk? I also took a pic of the trees at the location where I found it. I've never seen anything like it and I can't find any information on the web to help me get more information. I would love to know more about what it is? I would really appreciate anyone's thoughts? It is about 10cm in diameter and about 25cm long. It is very light in weight. I found it on the floor, in the woods. There was no indication of what or where it had come from. There was nothing else like it in the general area. It looks like it has been clean cut at one edge, with equipment? Thanks for any help in advance. I have tried to research on the internet, but can't find anything. I probably don't know the correct vocab to get the relevant results?
  20. Thanks for that, can’t fault the logic. Have to admit to being negligent as far as checking further, I know I should but it looks pristine in the bottom end. Plus I can’t think of anything in there (brgs, cages) that would provide flat debris like that. I like the screw driver theory ….. right opposite the spark plug hole. Ties in with a DIYer trying a Chinese replacement plug sourced from an online store, cheap as chips. Why am I leaning towards boggery rather than mechanical unreliability ? 🤔🙄
  21. The Chainsaw From a rope and harness ticket should really incorporate some basic rigging into it, as in the German SKT-B ticket - if you're using a chainsaw in the tree it's not long before you'll be needing to do basic rigging, and not having the rigging ticket is a can of worms waiting to be opened as soon as something goes wrong as far as insurances and liabilities go. Yes, as long as a competent person is on site and has the rigging ticket and the climber is working under their instruction you'll be fine, but how often is that actually the case? The Aerial Rigging ticket is so basic (as is the use of chainsaw from rope and harness IMHO) that they could easily be combined, with a more advanced rigging ticket to cover all the other techniques that everyone uses week in week out.
  22. I put this together a few years ago when I ran Avants. Standard PTO 3 point linkage winch, avant 3 point adapter and then a Hydraulic - PTO pump.
  23. 51/32lmin - winch is used on low flow only. New £3700 ish, my one for you my friend special price £2700 ish.
  24. I knew of atleast 2 people using top handle saws on the ground for felling on the railways , but this was pre network rail and more railtrack .but you are quite right its just knee jerk reactions to everything , rather than saying your - a twat you shouldn't have your hand there in the first place ,no payout and no job would sort the problem out albeit a very simplistic one
  25. Still and quiet today. Started to watch the Netflix thing about Ed Gein. What a sick bloke he was and I wonder how many more there like him who got away with their crimes. Odd jobs etc today.... Bow, Team, Murk, Beatrice.
