  1. Hey All. Couldn’t access my old login so have opened a new account. I run a contractor business in Bristol. We had our Timberwolf 230DHB stolen yesterday. Team took their eyes off it for less than 15 minutes. Hooked up to the truck but not locked. TIMBERWOLF 230DHB Chipper. Serial No. : 35A6KS209187 If anyone is offered one for sale in the Bristol area or anywhere, please check the serial number (if it hasn’t been removed). The level of hate I have for these types cannot be described.
  2. Afternoon all, just wanted to through some feelers out before I do a proper search and ring around. I'm due to start a level 3 arb course at bicton college in september, but need to do 45 days work experience. With a company local to North Devon I live in ilfracombe but have my own transport. What I really want to do is work everyday I'm not at college (if I can earn some money doing it, the 45 days is unpaid) I've been offshore for the last 7 years so a change of industry for me want to be closer to home. I'm good with knots a grafter and can work hard! Im 25 so you know your getting someone mature. Been working with saws for a few years looking after grandparents land just firewood ground maintenance hedges etc. always maintained my own saws and sharpened my own blades anyone that can point me in some directions would be massively appreciated.
  3. Hi all. I’m just posting on this group hoping to get some work experience in the North Devon area. Im currently in my last 12 months of service in the British Army (24 Commando royal engineers). I’ve done over 12 years and I’m after a change hence the leaving. I’m currently based in Chivenor (between Barnstaple and braunton). I have the following tickets : - NPTC across cut maintenance - NPTC felling up to 380mm - NPTC felling over 380mm - NPTC Aerial rescue - NPTC aerial chainsaw use - Level 3 certificate in Arb (tree ID, Tree planting, tree planting aftercare, tree pests and diseases) -Emergency first aid at work + Forestry I have some tickets but I’m lacking experience. I’m after weekend work and I’m willing to work over my leave periods (3 weeks Xmas leave, 2 weeks Easter leave..). Next summer i will be out the forces and it would be great to have gained a bit of experience before then so I can look for full time employment. Originally a Geordie (Newcastle) I’m looking at settling in the North Devon area - but I’m also happy to travel. Any help or steer in the the right direction is appreciated. Regards patty

  6. Hi I am felling timber on a site just outside Kingsbridge, in the South Hams. I have accumulated about 30 ton at the roadside of Lelandii and mixed Beech, Oak and Ash. I would like to look at selling this on to make room for the next batch. Is there anyone locally that would be interested in looking at this with me, either to buy it or see if there is some way of working with me to process the timber. Regards
  7. Evening All, small tree company in s.devon looking for self employed guys and galls, climbing work if applicable but predominantly ground work as a ‘third person’ To work as part of our small, friendly yet busy team on a mixture of private and commercial tree jobs. The usual tickets required as a minimum, as well as ground saw. Own transport is required and B+E is preferred but obviously not essential. frequent work with the opportunity for something permanent in the future. thanks Ben 07814376119

  11. Freelance climber with tickets, own PPE, saws and chipper available for sub-contract work. Happy to work as a groundie too - but will not work for peanuts. Call 07773746621.
  12. Hi all, I am right at the very start of my journey in arboriculture. I have been working in forestry for a while as a labourer and I never realised that I would love it so much, as my boss told me 'The sawdust gets into your veins!'. I have always loved trees in a big way and it has made me realise that this is the direction I need to be heading. I am happy to continue for a while in forestry but really I want to be a tree surgeon in the long run. So, I'm looking for somebody to take me on as a groundie/labourer and help me gain the relevant knowledge, skills and experience to work my way upward, with the aim to be a climber one day. I am booked in to do my CS30/31 but otherwise have no qualifications yet, I do hold a full uk drivers license. I am keen and a very hard worker. References available by request
  13. Hello there! Are there any tree surgeons around the Totnes area that would benefit from a newly-skilled pair of hands?! I’ve got my CS30/31 under my belt, about to do the climbing/rescue assessment, and I have all my own PPE and chainsaw. I’ve had some experience working on private tree jobs and some woodland management but I’d really like to do tree-work full time. Hope someone can help! Cheers, Maisie
  14. Hi I need a two people to work on a self-employed/sub-contractor basis for the week beginning 19th May. Need someone with tickets to cut and climb, and someone to chip brash. Own equipment required, and own transport an advantage. Work is at Challaborough in South Devon. PM me for details or email [email protected] Matt
  15. Hi all, this is my first post on here. I was wondering if anyone knew what employment was like for a newly qualified climber in the south Devon area, ideally Plymouth. I'm currently a few months away from the end of my time in the Royal Engineers and I am looking into using my resettlement to carry out an intense training course with kingswood training however I don't want to fork out until I have a rough idea about chances of employment upon completion of the course. If it seems that there are job vacancies I'd be looking at completing the course as soon as possible however i wont have much in the way of experience, therefore I would greatly appreciate any opportunities to gain work experience. Should any company in that area be in need of labour or willing to provide me with any tips, advice or work experience I would be extremely greatful. Thanks, Paul
  16. Hi all, Just to try and raise some awareness about myself, I am a self employed climber/groundsman from Ivybridge and am available to help out anyone that needs an extra pair of hands with something! I have my CS30,31,38,39 chipper, first aid and L3 diploma in forestry and arb, as well as ppe, climbing kit, rigging kit, transport and insurance. Have worked as a climber for a local bloke for the past 2 years but its time to move on to hopefully bigger and better things shall we say! Thanks for the time, Ben.
  17. Hi There, I am looking for an insured climber/groundy In south Devon (Ivybridge/Kingsbridge area) with a minimum of CS30 and CS38 to work with me in the general South Devon area for weekend work and possibly more in my new business that I have just started. Needed to start work ideally in mid September as current climber/groundy is off to University. Thanks in advance, Ben.
  18. We are getting married next week(!!!) and need 3-4cm diameter / 3.5m length branches for constructing a rectangular wood arbour. We had contacted a tree surgeon who unfortunately couldn't help us, but suggested we post a plea on this forum! If anyone can help in the Devon area, we'd be most grateful and can obviously pay for any branches offered, but any advice at all would be welcome. Thanks Dee & Dave
