  1. The stihl Ms 201t was like that I once owned even though I ran it on aspen, found out it left the factory without a gasket in the carb. If it gives you no warning and cuts out either on idle or when your moving around the tree or randomly after a cut . I'd rule out everything else first but that was it . Tried gaskets and carb rebuild through a dealer no good , tried a new carb through a dealer that was roughly 250/300 from memory .... still didnt run well.
  2. Might be worth asking the old girls of plant on FB for parts and other stuff like that
  3. Sorry, mark wasn't referring to yourself but I remember an puppet of a house holder somewhere up country who use a ground saw at neck hight and guess what happend . Then the rest of us have more qualifications and legislation to follow
  4. Most structural engineers don't know much why it comes to trees , I once argued with building control about a tree 50ft away from footings being pulled in greensand, he was trying to suggest footings a 16ft Leyland would cause issues , when challenged about it they use a guide from nhbc that's not based on tree species or types of soil/rock below ground level , So really a load of bollocks . Ive also heard of this crap take a 1/3rd off it per year before the trees gone. I'd suggest talk to your house insurance, ultimately if it goes wrong they will foot the bill, also they might suggest they aren't that bothered about tree removal because they deem it far enough away from the house or might stipulate otherwise . Ive had the miss pleasure of dealing with structural engineers in other disciplines they aren't that bright. Ever thought about a professional tree surveyors report ? Might be a bit more in depth than a structural engineer and more relevant.
  5. Just putting feelers out ,ive the following saws from new and are un used ,they've been run up on aspen and bar that just sat on a shelve not being used. Photos and prices to follow Echo cs370 es x1 as new Echo 362 top handle x1 new Efco mt3700 ground saw x1 As I say only putting feelers out , echos brought when fgm became the importers , fgm shifted stuff on .
  6. Its not the saw that's dangerous, its the idiots using it ,if it isn't a top handle it will be a ground saw used off ladders...its about time people who buy a saw take accountability for using it , maybe they will realise how complex and dangerous tree surgery is. No doubt the hse will lump all accidents together -rather than splitting them between home owners and professionals .
  7. Chandler timber go everywhere for timber based staffs but bloody helpful
  8. That's shit ,I'm lucky I was covered for it really
  9. Thing that pissed me of was not working out what was stolen or being able to replace it even though I had a 9k limit on a business credit card ..and they came back again took a new stihl Ms 241 when my dad was taken ill..but its the damage they do and the police 's piss poor attitude.
  10. Has it got much lift by the time you take the cutter head out ?
  11. Keep saws in house or shed, in personal experience most time theifs only want whats easy to move on sell on and trying to replace kit is really hard ,because no one carrys much stock in .-unless your fortunate to live next door to the big sellers
  12. We had a box ,all they do is leaver the box to break the padlock , Really you want a box ressed into the door itself , but then they come along with a plasma cutter and cut the side of the container . The loss adjuster came out once and said to me he had a client that buried a shipping container, they were in and out within 5 mins . All u can do is reasonable precautions as if they want it they take it and thes nothing you can do. Also the law doesn't work in your favour they just see it as a business theft ...oh well.
  13. Things like the trees in the London parks normally managed by big tree firms . But I do recall few years ago surrey council wanting a climber / office bod and they were to oversee consultancy and tree teams ...for that they were offering 33k a year and also needed a degree to do the job too. I await the usual twats to comment . But I looked at it and thought it wasn't worth the wnk
  14. I dont know of one or ever heard of one ,have heard of crane hire companies asking for cpcs slinger/signaller from tree surgeons climbing using cranes ...how ever be aware that it gets messy especially if they want an appointed person qualification .
  15. F me ,but if you dont have a clue about excavators ,you'd be better hiring one , no problems no asset deprication, no problem if its the wrong size ... You'd probably get a decent rate for 18month Or failing that you could get someone that knows what there doing and have it done quicker
  16. Would help if u said what side of Worcester and if u have any qualifications yet ?
  17. Alot of sprockets are harder to get hold of now , due to oregon buying up alot of its rivals, so where has ud get a rim and sprocket -more found on pro or saws of a certain cc... you will find it hard to cross over chains bars ,sprockets and stuff like that . It was a tosser going from 058 to 050 recently on an echo 37cc pro saw
  18. If its anything like the backpack brushcutter its slow, massively underpowered for a fourstroke so generally shite
  19. Oh dear you'll 😃, if it really have to ...for me id rather have a quick cutter over grunt , also depends if u want a forestry saw or more geared for tree work and dismantling. One size doesn't fit all, also recently tried other saws including an echo 4310 (i think) wasn't impressed with that . I feel husqvarna have lost their way now were on the 5 series and seems to be teething faults with certain models. I'm not tied to any one brand with saws and one might be good another might be crap . But the saws I'm currently running arent available anymore , All my stihl are gone ,all of the husqvarna are gone . I'm now running older none electrics echo , but compared to today's saws there ok. And efco /oleo mac ...old school series before everything got farmed out. Efco 156 is my equivilent to the 261, and efco 4100sp /4400 for the 241 ...gave fecking horrid back ache from that . But the efco and oleo mac last series were like the husqi 2/3 series ...I'm hoping ive enough till i retire
  20. Never been keen fan of them, I'm greatful my 241cm got stolen..although a pro saw was very heavy for a 40cc saw and the 260/261cm wasn't much better
  21. Because I'm only in it for the money , .I also turned down the chance to fly around the world with trant civil engineers doing airport surfaces ,but I didnt have enough info to make that a viable option either..hate to do it then get stung with a huge tax bill. If it doesn't pay enough I'm not interested to be honest . To be also straight -I'm not keen on Oz,new zealand, usa or Canada.
  22. Finally someone who can sharpen a saw properly!
  23. Going back to it at the time , circa 2001, done through an agency going on 1/4 of the facts ... thes isn't any point going out their if you dont come back with money ...plus being stuck with Australians .. great . I
