  1. Is the carb a suitable ground? Many aren't, being mounted on rubber boots and as such insulated.

  8. They're all a bit jerky. I think only the longitudinal big DSGs are nice, like what the A4/A5s have. My dad has a DSG Tiguan and i find it jerky to manoeuvre at low speeds, and as you say on an incline. My mum's A5 is totally different and very smooth. I have an A6 with a proper torque converter auto, much better than a DSG i find, can't fault it.
  9. Someone asked me a while ago about him coming out and if i knew he was gay. I always thought he was, i was more suprised to find out he was previously straight, married with kids. Maybe my gaydar's super effective. 🤔

  11. Could be a number of things; failed clutch spring fingers, or failed seals in the master or slave allowing fluid to pass by. My quick and dirty test is to clamp the flexible fluid line between master and slave, if the pedal's solid then it's likely a failed slave. If the pedal goes down the master's failed. Slaves fail more often but masters fail often enough too. The 362 is a very nice saw. Guy i worked with had one and it was a little powerhouse of a saw. (And you can get a full wrap for it, which i love.) I think the dry clutch ones are just a later evolution? Maybe not, DSGs aren't my area really. Luckily in 15 years as a mechanic i dodged in-depth DSG repair. LUK and Sachs are both owned by Schaeffler group so doubt it'd be one but not the other. I thought DSGs were built largely by VW but were conceived by Borg-Warner. I have a ZF slushbox in mine.

  13. Trafic? They wear one ball joint linkage and it pops off. There's a repair kit that holds the socket onto the ball rather than replacing the entire cables. Usually the mechatronic fails, the electro-hydraulic "control" portion and not the mechanical side. Still a 4-figure repair. Never been a fan of how DSGs drive. Second the 241. I really like them. If you want something more orange, i'd say a 550XP. Really rate mine, very light and compact but she rips. A little heavier than a 241 but probably not noticeable in the real world. 550 is more powerful and a bit cheaper too.
  14. But then there's no business. There's all the required equipment, and some potential contacts to start a business, but with no staff to do the work there's no business. You're trying to sell a going concern but with no contracted and employed staff, only equipment. Well it's quite understandable that they'd do so. Bear in mind that there are many seasoned professionals on here, who've run their businesses for years and as such know the internal workings very well. You're trying to sell something with quite hazy details and not given a price so of course everyone will try to estimate its value. Really it seems you just don't like what you're hearing. It may seem harsh but everyone's being up front and honest in their opinions and input. What is the reason you have them all self employed and not PAYE?
  15. Not used one but read lots of good about them. Heard that they punch well above their weight and have much more wow factor than saws like the 500i. Only 200g more than an MS362. Yes, they're 67cc.
  16. There's not a lot lighter than a 241 in that category, they're incredibly light and very nice to use. I was going to buy a 241 but got a 550 Mk II. The 550 is so light, compact and manoeuvreable there was no need for a smaller saw. If it has to be lighter use a Silky and make the engine noises yourself?

  18. Take a video. Sounds to me like it could be the viscous fan. Turbo boost leaks are usually more like hissing.
  19. Not all of us are destined for greatness. ☹ Personally i'd rather use a wee chipper and blast it into wheelbarrows and wheel it out to the van. Drag like that are a pain and leave an awful mess. Had one like that a while ago, through 3 gardens (fence panels out) that was like an obstacle course then down an alleyway and out to the road. The brash was half the size by the time it reached the chipper.
