  1. Fancy posting up some pictures of the chain and bar nose? I take it when you mean juddering it's not smooth in the cut or do you mean the engine is running funny? In my mind it can only be 3 things, warn bar nose, chain sharpened incorrectly or a failure on the AV system but that **SHOULD** have been picked up in the service.
  2. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for a safer workplace. I have just found that some companies use the reports to punish people instead of working with them to create a safer workspace and raise awareness. I understand that sometimes you have to deal with gross negligence but I've worked for companies who think that raising awareness of bad practice or a common mistake is done by making an example of people. All that does is create a bad work environment where mistakes and issues are covered up in fear of the results. One company went heavily down the punishment route and their accident report rate dropped by 75%, the same amount of accidents/near misses were happening but they were covered up, hidden and not reported in fear of recourse. That leads to a dangerous workplace.
  3. That's annoying, I take it it was a write off? I just attacked it with a mini belt sander and took all the sharp edges and most of the serrations off.   4. Not talking about the AA here but big companies love to push the just culture. I.e you do the right thing and say how you nearly had an accident and died and they "Justly" take you to a disciplinary for the pleasure. I nearly got cut in half by some hydraulic doors once and I was given a weeks suspension and a disciplinary for it. Wasn't my fault either!
  5. I've worked for companies before, they all had different anograms for their safety systems and they all had "near miss" targets to meet each week. A "Near miss" isn't something like a log falling from a tree and skimming someone's back. The safety teams considered it being things from missing stickers on equipment, someone not wearing gloves, a broken bit of PPe, a frey in a rope. Anything that could lead to an accident in any way is what they called a near miss.
  6. Bar blockages are usually caused by poorly sharpened chains making dust and forcing it into the oiler hole. At least that's my experience
  7. Stihl clutch carriers are 33Nm which is pretty tight, probably why it hasn't come off. I don't know about husky or how you even do it up!
  8. I'm on about outboard clutches like on the top handled saws. If I am having issues I usually run it up to around 1/4 throttle, see if it's dripping and come off. I can imagine they can come off if you spent ages revving/blipping the throttle or something silly though.
  9. Well, I apologise. Done it many times before with no issues. Are the husky clutches different to the external stihl ones somehow? Don't do what I said! 😂
  10. Personally I would run it without a bar and chain on at say 1/4 throttle and see if any oil comes out of the oiler port. Could save you a lot of effort for nothing wrong. Do you have the oil adjustment open all the way?
  11. The chain and everything else looks very dry? Is it oiling properly? If you tension it up and it doesn't get oil it will get hot and go slack. It also shouldn't be burning out bars, especially not from a loose chain. Loose chains will accelerate wear on the tip usually but not burn out the bar.
  12. Maybe with husky you can reset it by running in choke then? I don't know a lot after husky, nothing against them, I just went the stihl route and that's all I know 😂

Smaller saws (under ms462) is set to idle for >90 seconds then shut off, Bigger saws (MS462+) you set to idle for 30-60 seconds then go WOT for around 30 seconds and it'll rev its t*ts off and calibrate until the rpm drops back down. This causes them to dump all their learnt settings and go back to a factory tune. All the saws fine tune and learn if you perform big cuts but it's not a reset where it re-learns its parameters and then fine tunes in the cut. I think husky is the same, from when I was looking between husky and stihl when I was shopping, the Huskys couldn't be reset without a tool like the stihls can with the above procedure but they do fine tune in the cut like you say. Maybe I'm wrong and a husky tech will correct me?

  15. I use the stihl combi cans with the press in filler valves. I live in fear of putting my tip in the wrong hole. 😂
  16. Maybe yes, maybe no. There's a lot of tiny orafices and springs. I'm not sure how the oil you use reacts with petrol and 2 stroke. A tiny little sticky blob could be messing it all up and giving you that result!
  17. Definitely agree with Rough. Slow down a bit. I was working Monday to Saturday on 12 hour shifts before I committed to arb! I had to deal with tonnes of paperwork and barely being around at home ruined my home life too. Set yourself a "days" work. If you finish climbing/working at say 4 then set a finish time of 5:30 and stop work after that, you don't do anything but make mistakes and create stress by burning the candle at both ends. Obviously if you have stuff that HAS to be done then you can't but it at least lets you try to have a work day Bad luck with the groundie. It's hard to judge people before you're in knee deep. Where are you based? Lot's of guys on here who want work!
  18. AFAIK the leaving it in choke idling for >90 seconds and making full bar cuts is a stihl reset and tune. I think you can only reset a husky with the diagnostics tool? have you pulled the carb and cleaned it?
  19. I know, I wonder sometimes if these late night TV girls have to log their vibration hours. They're using bigger kit than we are sometimes. 😂
  20. If you're working with high vibration tools (chainsaws are into the hi section) as an employer you are meant to log total vibration as it's cumulative. Using rivet guns and Sanders and stuff in aviation I had to wear a wrist band with a little box on it which logged vibration. It's all to do with health monitoring which HSE requires you to do.

  22. I use Dinitrol. It's a product that OEM manufacturers use for corrosion protection and i've been using it for land rover chassis and trailers etc. They do loads of different types, soft waxy stuff or hard stone chip type just up to you about what you want. Clear the loose rust off Treat with RC900 (rust converter) so it doesn't come back as tiny pin pricks of corrosion will root Overcoat with 4941 for a soft, self healing finish or 4942 if you want a hard stone chip resistant one. If you have any cavities you can either us ML or 3125HS, both are a cavity wax. ML has more penetration so seals joints but 3125 has more solids so gives more protection. It's not cheap stuff but it goes a long way and will last the life of the vehicle unlike waxoil which needs re-doing
  23. Are you getting voltage at the motor like Kevm said? No point checking at the start and working forward if you can start at the end and work back.
