  1. Out of interest has anyone ever put in an insurance claim after an accident with a ported saw? I'm sure they would start firing questions at you if it was covered in "I'm ported" "X modded" stickers and obvious mods but has an insurer sent someone out who knows about saws and would know what they're looking at? Only sort of insurance stuff with mods I have any experience with is cars when a couple of friends had crashes, their cars were mapped, egr blocked etc etc. They just sent out a guy with a clipboard who wrote down what was damaged!
  2. The orange filter is finer. The original white one wasn't fine enough and dust particles were getting into the solenoid and ruining them
  3. Sorry Spud! I meant the update kit for the MS201TCM? Is it the same as the 261 is it?
  4. I realised that after I posted it and went to get a link and they were all for the MS201t... I could have sworn I saw one but I am obviously wrong 🤦‍♂️ Don't suppose you have the update p/n?
  5. I used this. Cut it with a hot knife or cut it and burn the ends. It expands enough to fit over the connectors and keeps everything flexible so you don't put additional strain on where the wire joins the connector https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/cable-sleeves/1874600/
  6. Replace the vent and do an mtronic reset (warm it up, turn it off, start it in choke and leave it in choke for 90 seconds then turn it off, don't blip the throttle or rev it between choke and shutdown) I got it all the time with a 201. Warmed it up, made a load of cuts and then up in the tree and it would either fire then stall or bog and need the throttle feathered. There is an Mtronic update/repair kit for the 201t for about £60 with a new carb, ignition module and flywheel
  7. 4.3m/s on the vibration front though so still worse than a stihl 261. It's not the engine that creates the vibration, it's mostly the chain and as the electric stuff doesn't have A/V mounts you're setting yourself up to make your injury worse. For the £160 mark you could get a Husky 130 which is petrol but only 3.6m/s on vibration and would probably be more capable and longer lasting?
  8. Have a close look at vibration specs before you buy anything. That titan one was 6.3m/s an ms261 is 3.5 m/s so you're going to have it much worse with the electric one. Cheap electric chainsaws never have any anti-vibration kit built into them and they are completely solid chassis. Obviously the numbers on paper are subjective but give you at least a basic idea!
  9. I wish you were the only woman in my life to tell me that sam... 😂
  10. That's the one I would have gone for if I did it again. It's the same blade that's on my pole saw and I have cut some chunky stuff (8") with it before using minimal effort! The zubat has more teeth per inch so is a smoother cut too. My sugoi has a more aggressive tooth pattern and is a bit angry in the tree and has a habbit of getting stuck 😂
  11. It's personal preference! The Zubat is probably the better one to go for really. The sugoi is massive and if I was to do it again I would have got a smaller one for climbing!
  12. I've got the curved blade sugoi. Luckily i'm 6'2 and the 360mm scabbard fits my lower leg perfectly. If you're going to get one, I'd suggest a curved blade. Also think of where you're going to have it when climbing. If you're going to have it on your lower leg then make sure its not too long. If you're going to mount it to the harness then the smaller ones are nicer. I've tried the straight ones from the utility guys as they have to have the straight blade for removing ivy from power poles. Apparently they had a few accidents of curved blades cutting the wires that run down inside the conduit. Personally I don't think they cut anywhere near as fast or as nicely but each to their own!
  13. Aspen is partially known for not damaging plastics etc so I would suggest that petrol would be better!
  14. Only way I could think is what you're already doing. Bit of petrol and time. Anything more aggressive will melt paint like you say... That is gutting. Maybe just call it "anti-theft marking" and call it a day....
  15. Happy new year to you too Mark! Out of everything at least my 2021 is off to a traditional start, cracking hangover that will probably last 3 days 👌
  16. My best part of new years was shouting "HAPPY NEW YEARS" at the top of my voice at 00:01 to hear "F*** off" somewhere in my village 👌
  17. Mine are almost the same as yours minus the sex. We're here to pro-create. Best get in as much practice as we can!
  18. Give the helmet a go/ a few weeks before you upgrade the headset Sam! I've been using mine since April and haven't had an issue with the headset. I'd be sad to loose the fact it folds away. When you're tidying up and doing silky pruning flipping the headset back out the way is a treat. I've also not yet had my earmuffs come off 🤷🏼‍♂️
  19. It's doing it out of the cut too? I don't suppose these have an RPM limiting ignition coil on it and it's leaned out and being limited by the ignition pack? Not massively familiar with the 150...
  20. I see what you mean, almost sounds like a car being bounced off the limiter!
  21. Well, the yellow and black version although I would have liked the pink now I've seen it! 😂
  22. I can recommend their sunglasses! I got the smoke ones and they are really nice. Loads of adjustment and actually feel like sunglasses instead of a pair of safety specs!
  23. HA! I wish. It was a set of landing gear doors. Two composite doors closed with 3000psi of hydraulic ram power. They've already killed people and snapped spines. Happened recently(ish) on a spicejet aircraft where the apprentice got killed
