I'm regretting now not continuing the stretches that helped it last time. Of course once there was no pain I quickly got out the habit but maybe it wouldn't have helped, I did lift stupidly. The humour has been good at least, the lads have fun about me being the oldie at work at the best of times but now I'll never hear the end of it.

Hobbled home from work after a mere couple of hours today. A slip on a banking while lifting/turning and the sciatica 'knife' plunged in. Had it before but this time is bloody agony. Went down like a premiership footballer at the chipper hopper and it took fully half an hour to get me up. The lads were great. Was dressed in my coat so I didn't get cold, layed a tarp on the opposite verge out of the work zone and I was taken like an elderly gent across the road and layed on it. "Don't worry Doug I've got this, I'm used to taking my grandad out, he's a bit more nimble though", "no wait just now, we'll never make it over before that bus comes in 20mins". So they left me there to stretch and see if it eased while they cracked on for a bit, stranded like some sad little turtle or a cowped ewe in full view of the road, thought a few times a car was actually going to stop or call an ambulance the looks I was getting! However the stretching helped a bit and I made it home and our friendly physio will fit me in tomorrow but I'm not looking forward to getting moving in the morning at all. I'm fairly confident the boss will ask if I learned anything at all from the lifting and handling course we did recently... of course I learned, I'm just not putting it into practice. Old dogs and new tricks I suppose but I'm learning now in hindsight.

You've put the criminals to shame Alex I'll give you that. And dirty plates will be a thing of the past when you have a dog to help out!

Morning. Windy today, hopefully keeps the rain away, not too fussed though as I've got a chocolate scone for lunch, easily pleased!

I've limited experience of them really Bob. We have a metal box welded above the drawbar on the timber trailer for storing straps, its sides are folded around each other at the edges and welded, the lid has a half inch lip to overhang the sides. It doesn't let anything in but it's still often damp inside, sometimes the ratchets get wet with condensation and they do rust. Had same issue when I used a quad bike a lot. I repurposed a plastic tuff case (for storing a drill) to bolt on the front. Kept paperwork and phone etc in it. Was waterproof but things kept in there would go mouldy. A small net bag of vermiculite pellets sorted that. Maybe a waterproof box lined with something would be better.

It's 22m with a 17m reach. Best thing for road jobs is it having no tailswing to think about. Morning all, have a good Friday!

Late in today, had an early start to pick up an old friend for a day on the road.

Think you can get metal tool lockers fairly cheap, or I've seen them DIY made of checker plate metal.

Won't play for me

I've found a helpful way to deal with post covids is to feign utter stupidity with a smile on your face. Was strimming the river bank I look after the other week and stopped for a break, said to a guy in the river fishing "having much luck?". His reply was quite impolite, but along the lines of "got no chance with you making all that noise". But I smiled, said I can absolutely guarantee you sir that I'm not disturbing the trout. "How the flip do you think that!" he said. Well, I've been looking after this river bank for over a decade and never once have I had a noise complaint from the trout so clearly they're not bothered at all, could it be they don't like the brand of your waders? He looked at me for a moment in disbelief but he was defeated, he knew no matter how angry he was you just can't argue with stupid, so he turned and waded off downstream quietly and I was left to strim in peace.

I find it quite believable that a junkie sex addict with a big profile and even bigger ego, would take the opportunity to treat people like trinkets for his gratification. If anyone has known a junkie before it's not news that they're selfish, nasty individuals that can't be trusted and have no thought for anyone but themselves. They're on a mission in life to please themselves in the moment however it suits them. Add in the self confessed sex pest part of his personality and I'd think it likely he's treated a lot of people badly. As for letting the courts decide rather than MSM, that's exactly what will happen. But apparently it takes MSM to see a story worth running, then commit resources to investigative journalism and gather evidence, before the police get involved in the first place.

Not an option spud, the girls are committed to a day on the sofa together! Thinking I'll borrow my mates two Vizsla's this afternoon and head off to the hills with them instead.

Cassie (wee Poppes) has had a rough time lately. Went in a while ago for an operation on a swelling around her hip that was thought to be a hernia, but they discovered during the op it was a tumour. They removed what they could but little more can be done so she came home with meds for palliative care and an expectation of around 6 months. She was recovering well from the op until she went over a kerb awkwardly and did the ligaments in her other back leg so she's had another few weeks as an invalid. Last day or two she's been back to herself again which is great to see, had a walk at the wind farm last night and she was running around completely engaged, into the long grass hunting little things, felt quite proud of her and lovely to see her enjoying life again. She didn't need a rest for the first time in a while, hoping it continues as long as possible now! Edit. Was only Poppes and I out hunting last night as the oh was on the couch feeling sorry for herself having been to A&E for stitches, a clash of heads playing with our friends 2 Ridgebacks and she came off worst! Amazing how often she was asked in hospital "was it an XL Bully?"

Morning all. The little dog is snoring, sounds like it's raining and the coffee smells good. No rush to get up!
