  1. They're excellent photos. The colours are so vivid, and the detail of those wings...
  2. Yes, delivery is extra, cost depends on distance.
  3. Two of those buckets pictured is a loose load of 2.6 cubic metre. That's 269 plus delivery. They're mixed hardwood, seasoned for 2yr then kiln finished. A loose load of mixed softwood would be 175.
  4. As an only child myself I've often wondered if I've missed out not having any siblings, although I don't know many that have a great relationship really. And to be fair it was more a big sister I would have liked, she'd definitely have had very attractive friends!
  5. A cubic metre of loose logs is a lot less than you might imagine, this bucket is 1.3 cubic M. We call two bucket full (2.6 cube) a load.
  6. Helpful Stubby, by saying something on your thread he "bumped" it back up to the top of new posts for you.
  7. Not complaining you understand, but prefer a rear view!
  8. This is the thread by Village Idiot that dumper suggested might interest you.
  9. I'll address the situation this afternoon by using a hammer or even an axe.
  10. She will sigh too, when she returns from Edinburgh where she's seeing the Turner Collection of Watercolours and hears I spent the morning cuddled up with the dogs watching Paddington 1+2!
  11. Same age as my hair but a bit older than my teeth! I've enjoyed a lot of animated films the last few weeks, much to the amusement of the other half, who actually does act her age...
  12. Just watched both first and second, thoroughly enjoyed them both, great recommendation
  13. It's just a matter of time I'd think.
  14. That load is two deliveries, just over 5 cube in total. There's a plywood divider put in the middle, held in place by ratchet straps, tip half the load and keep half on until you slacken the straps. But no more than 35mph in the L/R!
  15. That's the drying floor. Once dry the logs are stored in another bay across the yard. I filled the drying floor straight away again today with chip to dry for the biomass boiler, the hopper for it is next to the drying floor with the same type roof doors. The boiler runs everything on the property, including the drying floor.
  16. Had a quiet week to round off this year. Everyone's on holiday over the festive period so just been me and Santi at the yard doing maintenance on the kit, sorting out the drying floor and general chores. Few last minute phone calls for logs today so did a few deliveries. A happy new year to all, may yer hearth aye be warm.
  17. Over 10 minutes, he's a legend. Deserves a "boomchickawawaa" soundtrack
  18. He's a good friend, helping polish her lovely shell!
  19. I tried the field test suggested by Stere. With very little pressure applied to the sides the helmet just cracked up the back.
  20. Is it simple enough to drill accurate holes for the dowels freehand, or is it better using the little jig templates?
  21. That's great, but it'll take a lot more jiggery-pokery to get them to go to sleep now!
  22. Not a joke but visited my mate this morning at the country hotel he looks after. Police came in asking if he'd seen anyone suspicious around the place, and could he check the grounds and outbuildings please, if anything amiss call them. He asked what he was looking for and they managed not to laugh while explaining a gent, going by the name of Jesus had absconded from the mental health ward and had been seen near the hotel, in the stables at a donkey sanctuary. My mate asked what he looked like, they said "he's trying hard to carry the appearance of a conventional Jesus". Quick as a flash my mate said "one of the guests met a guy like that earlier by the river". Out came the notebook, "what's the name of the guest?'. It's John mate, John the Baptist. They weren't half laughing as they left!
  23. Thanks for that, interesting link, I've been very lucky!
  24. Noticed in the woods tonight, seen it once before I think but don't know what it's called. Looked at first like a feather duster, it's very delicate.
