What is the price per cm3 i mine sure the more you buy the cheaper it is but I can only fit 2m3 in my trailer
-
I can see your point, but in the cs30 it is their way or it’s wrong. You may well know that most peeps can file one side better than the other, depending on if your left or right handed. its about the pressure you can apply As billy says it takes time and practice to do it with both hands i get round it by adding a few extra strokes on the side I find harder. anyway that being said, in my cs30 the examiner made the other guy file all the cutters to the same length, only because one side was longer than the other. That chain Must have had a lot of right handed guys filing. It took a fair bit of time to get it right, the poor guy almost ran out of time.. but he did pass... you will just have to say “sir,,yes sir....?. But Once you pass and get into the real world,,, you prolly find a lot of blunt chains ?. And be happy to sharpen them up

Yeh I never heard of the guy, like a lot of other guys I guess. but it fills me with sadness, to read this. It it is really unbelievable in this dayonage that if someone talks about things in they way this guy felt. Peeps can’t handle it and walk away. Ask sme how I know......

Was it the making of the new Breaking Bad series.. No but really, a motorhome, police can’t just stop and search like any vehicle, it needs a search warrant (someone’s home)
-
Please tell more. Can I ask how you proved your trailer was less than 1020kg and why you were exempted. they used to have to get you to a weight bridge, but less than (was it 3 miles from where they stopped you) it may have changed.. i have a few ideas but why did they insist you need an O licence. the police think they know it all and can be stubborn peeps and will not check. Cheers

Why’d peeps call them chicks with dicks and not boys with tits ?

Just keep it for the after communal rugby shower/bath time

I know this is a bit late as your problem is fixed. my 260 never had a backing plate when I got it. But when I got the backing plate, I did notice the difference before the bar pitched tight was different after fitment... i will say lessons have been learned here. From the thinner than a stihl bar.. I’m greatful you posted your findings, so that others can learn thanks once gain

Shops won’t entertain trying to clean up cylinders. Shame thou, that if it’s slant fin cylinder. It is prolly better than a new one if it could be cleaned up
-
Would this help you discribe it. http://oregonvyhne.sk/domains/7l8j90ep7a/my_files/Vkresy/Stihl_044_IPL_.pdf page 32 has a slant fin cylinder with no decomp as far as I know all stihl 2strokes that work from a diaphragm carb have an impulse line from the crank case. Part # 0000 988 521 but I’ve heard some manufacturers have them in different places. They should of tested the saw before they handed back to you. if it runs for a short time, I think you have other problems, like carb or tank breather
-
Ahh, but you don’t need the walk-in the park spud...this is a long distance discussion..asking and teaching, he’s getting to know his saw intimately. ..you just wanna get into the bare suff and bone his saw into submission ?
-
Yes I agree bmp01, also look between the cover and the saw. Look and see if you can see the first thing that touch the cover. in the mean time this guy will show You him using his muscles doing bar nuts up

Putting in aspen or Moto crap in a saw that’s had petrol in it will require a carb rebuild. It’s well documented, you can’t do it....but the other way you can ie moto mix then petrol. But can’t go back to moto without a carb rebuild i would say yellow spark means either bad plug or coil. More likely coil . I would get get another know working plug and try that first. And I said known working, it is unusual to get a duff new plug but it has been known.. one other thing, make sure that it is not flooded, ie switch it off and pull it over. Or leave it over night. Sometimes carbs go wrong and flood the engine, but as you say yellow spark I don’t think faulty carb. When I have problems starting a saw , I try a squirt of carb cleaner/easy start/break cleaner into the carb. It should fire on hot/fast start.

One last thing before I have dinner..... never assume a second hand saw has had parts fitted correctly from the previous owner, or even from a repair shop. ive seen few things...?

The only other thing I can think of. Is to start with out the chain or the chain adjuster. remove the plastic bumpers I marked in red, also from remove from the case They only hold in by the plastic, I’m wondering if these are making the bar sit proud. Thus you can still move it now fit the bar and see if you can get it to tighten up, try both covers. then add one bit at a time and check. I’ve had those plastic bumpers can get dirt behind them and sit proud and foul the chain ive added some pics of my 260. What I’ve notice is the cover sits upto the bit I’ve maked in red (long red line) you can see my bar fitment in the pic, from your pic of bar fitment, are those white plastic bumpers fouling the bar, it’s just a thought, you have to ask every thing, so as to not miss the simple things
-
well I guess I missed the chain adjuster being at the front. Doh.. it’s amazing what you miss.. after all it a 024av. Not a 024 as I know.. so there are a few differences. My simple suggestion of removing the chain adjuster, to only test that it is the adjuster fouling the cover. While there check the plastic cover for fitment. It would be easy to remove some plastic from the plastic cover if it fitted well without the chain adjuster. ( I would not file down the chain adjuster, as I think you may find it hard to get another) after reading some threads on 024 av there are a few variations and the original cover only had one bar nut but peeps changed them out to a two stud cover. But unfortunately some things go undocumented. Then in I guess the choice is yours https://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/stihl-024-av-super-1149-version-ipl.316832/ https://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/stihl-024-av-eq-chain-tensioner.260484/

Well the second hand cover does not have a hole to adjust the chain,, 1119 series number for still is for a 038 maybe it has a front chain adjuster edit: how would you adjust the chain.. we’ve all done things like this, so don’t worry about it, we’re here to learn ? the other cover should fit as it is 1125 series. Albeit a plastic one ?. I think thinner bar no backing etc is a problem as for the bar studs I always thought it was the long thread into the case.. not that it should make any difference
-
I’ve looked at this thread, scratching my head,,, it seems like your bar studs collars are sitting a little high when you put your bar on, albeit you have a thinner bar and don’t have a backing plate. Then to compound the lot your chain/bar cover seems to have the slot for the chain adjuster in the wrong place. Or there is not one there. I know a lot of bar/chain covers are interchangeable with saws, but what saws idk. i can see the mark pointed out by bmp01. Which is the likely cause of your problem. But as said before, if you had slightly thicker bar and a backing plate. The cover your using may have been ok. i don’t have a 024 to check but I do have a 260 and the cover has a slot for the chain adjuster. See my 260 cover pic one other thing that may or may not be aggravating your issues, which way did you put your new bar studs in. Short or long side thread into the case

Just a thought.... I wonder what the other quotes were. So when you had a chat, they may have seen you very better priced and thought that when you gave a second offer of walking away or the second price was still good or better than what they had before... its to just a thought, and like you say being honest is better, because you went home and slept well. Which may have been totally different if you chose a different approach. ?
