  1. As above. The Asian Box Caterpillar. Have had a lot of box chewed to bits this year. Supposed to do 3 sprays of the stuff @DJM Tree posted up. I believe you can repair the damage if you keep on top of the caterpillars. You can also get rid of the caterpillars by physically taking them off your plants. They will be all over the shop.
  2. Some more Damselfly and Dragonfly pics from this week.
  3. I hear the greater spotted regularly, don't often see them. The greens are usually looking for ants at the ant hills in the lawn. Green is my next project for photographing. Have to find out how to get a good shot of them, they do fly up to the nearest tree when disturbed but normally not easy to spot. 👍
  4. Finally had luck getting a woodpecker somewhere I could photograph. Very happy with the result.
  5. Where are you getting the acorns? Got any good suppliers?
  6. The Canadas had some goslings.
  7. Bullfinch never an easy catch.
  8. Yep hearing lots about at the tree tops and seen some but not at the feeders either.
  9. Earlier on in the year had some issues, haven't seen much of anything since thankfully. Seemed to be more when the birds were coming over from abroad bringing it here in the winter months.
  10. Mother duck has managed to keep 5 ducklings successfully. These were photos from a couple of weeks back
  11. It’s been a busy Spring on the pond. New life in the Geese family.
  12. I’m probably going to need to upgrade. My specs are very low. Tried running RAWtherapee was terribly slow on my computer. good advice and input. Good ramblings mate. 👍
  13. Spotted a 4 spotted chaser today.
  14. Nice! I’ve not been shooting RAW for a bit as I’ve not got any editing software. Maybe darktable is the way forward. Do you need a fairly high spec computer to make it work at a decent pace? Head on shots are great if you can get them. 👍 Is the macro lens fixed? f11 seems quite a high f number, is there a reason for doing that? I’m only asking as an amateur photographer with lots to learn myself. Not as a dig in any way. 👍
  15. Nice! Lighting is great. What did you use to get the head on shot? Is it cropped/macro?
  16. Nice work. I am guessing Turkey Oak doesn't have as good outdoor properties as English Oak then? Didn't realise that. having never dealt with turkey oak timber. You learn something new everyday. 👍
  17. Pretty warm here. Bit breezy today but that helped cool things down a bit.
  18. I know there’s a few posts on beasties and wildlife. I thought maybe those that see them could post some pictures of the different dragonflies and damselflies you see. We can get idea of the different species by area. Just an idea. besides that I’m always impressed at their colours and they are great to photograph with in my humble opinion. Here are some recent shots I took. An improvement on last years try at it.
  19. saw this little tree creeper the other morning going to feed her chicks.
  20. Bit of a monster! Nice 👍
  21. It’s an octopus delusion mate. 👍thanks for watching though.
  22. Be worth getting him/her to a rescue center to get it rehomed, I think tawny owls are quite good at adopting young ones.
