  1. that's true and a fair point. though 38mm is close to an inch and a half so I reckon that might be just what I need. So probably both of those hedge trimmers would be beneficial to my hedge cutting debacle. 😀
  2. Yes this one looks like the best on the market at the minute. STIHL HS 87 R 30" Hedge Trimmers | Petrol WWW.SAM-TURNER.CO.UK STIHL HS 87 R Hedge Trimmer in 30" | Buy STIHL Hedge Trimmers from authorised dealer Sam Turner & Sons Looks like a good bit of kit. Hmmmmm..... I've got my lottery ticket in, let's see what happens....... 😀
  3. Good idea. The electric pruners are very good. I just don't like having to do thousands of cuts with them and would rather have a hedge cutter that did the job faster.
  4. Yes the pruners are brilliant. I bought a pair for £80 on amazon, they fit makita batteries. They are excellent and cut through 40mm stuf no problem. I have lots of gear, I was just hoping to find something that makes doing whole yew and other woody hedges easier in winter time. I have used the makita mini top handle for thousands on cuts reducing an old beech hedge. But obviously that takes hours.
  5. Interesting. I have a similar husqvarna equivelant which is good for the thicker stuff, I guess there isn't an easy solution to it. I was looking at similar by Echo 75cm blade.
  6. Thanks Peter will have a look at that.
  7. Interesting thanks Stubby I was wondering about those.
  8. This is an old thread but, I was using my battery husqvarna professional hedge trimmer yesterday long reach and getting a better cutting result through thick branches than my echo long reach hedge trimmer. The hedge was low level so could have used another hedge trimmer but didn't have it with me. What do you find is the best hedge trimmer not long reach for cutting through thicker stuff? Apart from a chainsaw.....
  9. -4c this morning. Taking time to de-ice the van and the car before taking a slowish drive to my place of work. In the car and then warming the van up. All seems to take a bit of extra time to get the day started….. 😢
  10. Misty here this morning after yesterday bucketing down heavy all day. It’s a pleasant change.
  11. A few fairly recent birdies:
  12. Its a great spectacle seeing the birds of prey when the tractors are out. I got some nice shots of the kites flying about at harvest time. Will post a few shots up for ya.
  13. why would you prefer the shorter bladed hedge cutter? Is it too heavy or too big? I only ask as most of the hedges I have to do are wider than 70cm so the longer the blade, the better for me. I was looking at buying the same machine, thus am curious. Cheers.
  14. Beautiful looking though Mick.
