  1. Blimey. didn't know they lived as long as that.
  2. Wouldn't have thought so. But lovely waters round here. I generally only drink Highland Spring though.
  3. Ooh that would have been a interesting scrap.
  4. Surely a good sturdy post hole digger is the cheapest and most economic solution to all of these.
  5. Well I am sure it is very well done. Though there don't seem to be any photos. Or is that the point?
  6. Photos are always good. But sounds like a proper job.
  7. This is a dwarf cherry I planted in 2006.
  8. Yep I reckon bee fly. As per the Collins complete guide to British Insects. They are quite harmless.
  9. Hi there, As above, there are lots of saws on the market. If the saw is not going to be used daily and not for massive trees then I would say Rancher 455 or equivalent. Echo saws are extremely reliable so I am told and I have always wanted a good echo saw, though currently have Husqvarna. My understanding is that auto tune are better for heavy duty use on a daily basis and made for that purpose whereas the Rancher as the name suggests is good for use on the ranch..... (and the cost is probably more within your budget) I believe the auto tune have a chip of some sort in them and are a little more fiddly to fix when they need a fix. I.e, the electronic parts. I have yet to do any needful repairs on an auto tune so can't be sure. A lot of others with far more experience than I will probably have other things to say about it.
  10. As a kid we had an old Victorian greenhouse and outside was an old mulberry. Loads of fruit on it. Didn’t know what it was at the time, but the fruit was good. Not quite as sweet as blackberries though.
  11. The in-laws won't be liking that news.
  12. Sorry I was being facetious, the photos you posted made your house look like it was on a steep slope. But the wisteria is very nice. Hope your detailed wisteria briefing goes well with Mr D.
  13. Nice. The greens regularly come and feed for ants on the lawn, but as you say, they are flighty. Never seen Orioles here or Hoopoe. Probably too cold and too far. Hoping to start seeing the Kingfisher again soon.
  14. Could be a slightly less hardy species. By the look of the colour it is a more pink colour, than the regular more blue pink. Do you know which species it is?
  15. Beautiful wisteria. Very early out. Is your house on a hill? ?
  16. That's great stuff. Are you using a camera with a fairly long lens to get the WP pictures?
  17. Excellent result by the looks of it. I like that you are allowing the bramble to be the natural barrier for the deer. I presume you are not deer fencing around the hazel coppice just letting the bramble do its thing?
  18. Been phenomenal weather here. Bright blue sky and sunshine for days. Everything is blossoming at once.
  19. With the stupendously good Spring weather we are having, things are looking particularly colourful at the minute.
  20. Superb looking! I have yet to get the art of hedge laying down, something I would love to learn and be good at.
  21. Very nice. A new species of woodpecker? I only know of the two plus the green. Red Squirrel, well you must live somewhere up north where ferocious women shoot all the greys. So I am told.
  22. Excellent work Mr Dempsey. Educating the nation in lockdown.
