  1. 550 great saw look after em and they last longer than a year i got one 3 yrs old now and still going well and gets used everyday

  3. Don,t have any trouble starting mine no matter how hot it is, pretty much first time every time

  5. Ive got a single sided cut Honda 4 stroke and its the best trimmer for holly ive ever had its got a wider gap between teeth

Did one on knuckle of middle finger 9 yrs ago and took 16 wks before i could use it properley and in january this year did my little finger but decided not to have it repaired cos i was too busy so now have a straight finger from the middle joint which is a bit of a pain in the ass to be honest
  7. I think you might be right Matt cos since this thread started i got the saw back out and have bought a set of tuning tools and had a go at it and to be fair got it running a hell of a lot better but i wouldn,t buy another after this

  13. Dunno really we had this one new and was used as a pro saw but didn,t get a lot of use,i still use it now and again
  14. I got one in good condition great old saws but a bit heavy compared to new stuff but plenty power

    perhaps we shouldn,t assume they are all the same then, we need to be giving these youngsters a chance and try to give em a trade,give it another go and perhaps you wont get a "shite" one this time

    Not always the case Ian my son did an apprenticeship and was totally reliable and hard working from day one and never missed a day he shouldn,t have and also my friend has apprentices in his business which is arb related and the two he has had have been great and one is now full time for him and very reliable so we shouldn,t class them all as "useless from day one" as they are not all the same
  20. Same as you BigJ we got a big old jotul and it burns anything dry and no matter how cold we are warm
  21. Mine was my first new saw and i couldn,t part with it either
  22. I can understand why he wants to stick with a 254xp cos they are great saws i,ve got one in great condition but would not part with it but i know a mate has one he might sell i will see him monday and ask if thats any help
