  1. Is that your neighbours house in the picture?… Might I suggest replanting with something native and extremely fast growing. Maybe plant semi mature eucalyptus trees, a double row about 12’ tall. Make sure to prune the growing tips so they bush out too. Also as an added bonus… Next time you go on holiday for a few weeks, leave several dozen bags of dead fish tied to the tree up high… [emoji6][emoji106]
  2. I much much prefer the 881 to the 880. 1. It’s a proper chainsaw, not an engine with handles. 2. It’s 30% more fuel efficient, and it is. With alkylate fuel this matters. 3. Same power as the 880, chain speed etc. 4. The fuel savings alone pay for the saw in less than 3 years.(with alkylate). 5. It’s bloody sexy!!! Yes that is a reason to buy one. I bought a new 880 recently, it’ll stay in the box forever I hope. When I need another saw, I’ll get another 881. Can’t go backwards… [emoji106]
  3. Loads of petrol and diesel in Halifax and huddersfield. Only 2 cars at station when I pulled in. Have you ever tried telling a Yorkshire person that they need to buy something…. 🤣🤣🤣[emoji106]
  4. Might be a run on veg oil next….[emoji848]
  5. Thank **** for 55 litre barrels of motomix!!! 🤣[emoji106]
  6. Might just leave it outside my local petrol station log box, photo it and send it to the daily mail….🤣[emoji6][emoji106]
  7. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  8. In Britain, your neighbour would be looking at criminal charges. Criminal damage and trespassing with intent at least. I’m sorry you have to live next door to a complete… The tree is very dead.
  9. First guy who “taught” me felling was convinced you could cut a tree down with only a flat front cut. Saw kept getting pinched everytime…[emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]
  10. Dropped off the 5 finest pieces of olive ash to a luthiers yesterday. [emoji108]
  11. Hitting metal will not just bugger the teeth, the shock with transfer to the drive sprocket and bar sprocket. I’ve had .404 rim sprockets shatter after hitting metal. If in doubt use a .404 duromatic bar [emoji6][emoji106]
  12. What bars? Pitch? Length? I’ve never greased any of my GB or other bars ever. A few weeks ago I had a chap in who was interested in the panther mill GB bar set up. I then realised I’d never even flipped the bar… For over two years of brutal abuse, my main go to mill. Didn’t look too bad either so left it on. Mine are all .404 and pretty bomb proof[emoji106]
  13. Why such a big gob cut? That’s nearly 50%?
  14. Or three. To put it bluntly you have some resources but no skills. Working with experienced professionals will teach you more than college. Once you’ve gained first hand experience with many different scenarios… That’s your basis to offer services. I spent years alone in a forest thinking I knew what I was doing… Then I started sub contracting… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Steep learning curve. Best of luck, keep us updated with your trials and tribulations [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. Councils pay about the same regardless of location… It not a Hull thing. It a national policy.
  16. Is reading a hobby? I either work or I’m with family normally. Non work related fun is a dim distant memory now. When I get time I like to read history books. Mainly the classics. Greeks Romans minoans etc. Thousands of years ago, people still thought the same as us. It’s a fascinating place life… [emoji106]
  17. One or two saws? IF I only had one saw I’d probably get a 70cc ish. I ran Stihl ms440 with a 25” 3/8 bar for many years. My two main felling saws now are Stihl ms261 15-18” Ms461 20-30” often a 25” There’s no point lugging a 461/661/500i around if you’re cutting 10” stuff. And a 261 won’t really be much use in 20-30” trees. A 462 would probably be ideal. As it’s light enough with power to run 28” if needed. [emoji106]
  18. What’s happened is he rented me an abandoned factory, with years of dumped crap in the yard. Half the main building had collapsed and it was all full of rubbish and debris. We reroofed 17 x 16’ roof panels, fixed about 30 holes. Put glass in every window. Built a 2 storey gable end to secure the main building. And that was after spending weeks clearing up. So if there are any altruistic millionaire property tycoons reading this… I’m looking for a forest [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  19. My virgin 880. Never had a bar on it. [emoji108]
