  1. Twigs! Bundled up with string. Dry in a few weeks. Why cut wood when you don’t have to? [emoji106]
  2. I’ll testify to this. I’ve destroyed a good felling axe and sledge hammer from doing this. Starts with little chips then lumps of cracked steel shooting off. [emoji106]
  3. I live in Yorkshire. Everything is wet all the time. [emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️ ???[emoji106]
  4. Yeah been a wet year. Nasty buggers. [emoji106]
  5. Yeah fell and mill. Could make a few nice resin tables from that [emoji106]
  6. No. Total waste of time. Liability on site. [emoji106]
  7. Logosol do a carbide tipped bandsaw blade. No sharpening, just use it til it dies. Will cut through nearly anything apparently. [emoji106]
  8. Generally I turn down resaw jobs. Nearly every one has gone wrong. Nails, bolts etc. Or just wood so hard it dulls the chain teeth before finishing the cut on big stuff. Got one in two weeks to resaw some big elm slabs. Taking lots of spare sharp chains. [emoji106]
  9. Yeah a 4x4 forklift/loader/tractor/etc is essential for log moving as I’ve found out. ?[emoji106]
  10. Definitely not Liberty caps. Wrong shape bell, visible gills through bell and most importantly no nipple! ?[emoji106]
  11. You’d get a 4’-5’ piece from this? It’s about 7’ x 2” thick. Any use? [emoji106]
  12. Never really had any health issues, or had a problem healing from injuries until I reached 42. Now I have a very long list of things not quite right. Back, shoulders, elbows, knees etc I’d recommend hydraulics for the over 40’s. ???[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  13. Yes, it was under a drip in the warehouse. [emoji106]
  14. Brilliant thanks David.[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. Yes I agree with your first paragraph.? Band saws are many times more efficient than chainsaws.[emoji848] Petrol saws will be gone in ten years.[emoji22][emoji22][emoji22] I’m not allowed to discuss what I know about your 3rd paragraph..[emoji6][emoji106] Yet... [emoji106]
  16. Battery lorries already exist. See Tesla. [emoji106]
  17. Yes I would be [emoji106]
  18. Ok what’s this? Growing on some very expensive Wych elm boards. [emoji106]
  19. I really really like sweet chestnut. It’ll feed you too. [emoji106]
  20. Due to its incredibly fast coppice growth rate I really think it could compete with traditional softwood markets too. Just need to convince the public... [emoji848][emoji106]
  21. Yes, it’s a highly underrated wood. Like oak but less sapwood obviously. Quarter sawn it’s stunning, beautiful medullary rays , but I’m a fan of big old gnarly burry ones. Seen some quite amazing ones over the years. Blinkin huuge sone of them with 8’+ burrs! It’s highly durable outdoors, it’s lighter and easier to work than oak. I think there’s a market for SC sleepers over imported euro oak. Just need to convince the public[emoji106]
  22. Hell yes!!! Milling with a big saw is a white knuckle ride all the way, wrestling it in a straight line, perpendicular to the log, big knobbly bits to go around and 120 odd cc and 5’ of chain to fight against. And you can’t stop or let go without scoring the board. So that’s a big YES!!! [emoji6][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  23. I did say get a 462. ?????? You want the number for a decent dealer? [emoji106]
