  1. Are you suggesting we have a "mill off"? [emoji12][emoji106]
  2. I agree, but I can buy 5 Chinese ones for the price of one Alaskan. [emoji106]
  3. Im running the 25",36" and 48" Chinese mills from Royston resources. I've used granberg and apart from price they're nearly identical. Also spare parts are soooo much cheaper.[mention=24594]RobD[/mention] on here sells various types from panther and granberg to Chinese. My first mills were threaded bar and plywood. Worked fine just slow to alter depth of cut. They all work. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  4. Had a lovely chat with hmrc last night, No you're not CIS as an arborist unless... Felling to clear a construction site. [emoji106]
  5. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106]
  6. Hello Badger, Whereabouts are you? I have cs32 and DBS. [emoji106]

    Rats

Completely forgot! You can buy a plug in thingy, emits ultra high frequency sounds. Works for mice, rats and cockroaches. Limited to about 10-15 feet range, but 3-4 units would do a whole house. Worked for us in London with a mouse problem. [emoji106]
  8. You might need a replacement for the fun. I'd recommend martial arts, something high energy like kickboxing, jujitsu etc. It's a reason to stay sober, eat right, sleep right etc. And fighting is really good fun too. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  9. What size feet you got? I've got a pair of hardly used chainsaw wellies, says size 9/10 but I'm a 12 and they are big. Available for postage. [emoji106]
  10. I'm 20% down. **** [emoji52]
  11. Hmmm I'm sensing you're a climber... Can any fool climb a tree then?[emoji12]
  12. It was never mentioned when we discussed work and pay. Something is about to hit the fan.
  13. I pay my taxes anyhow. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
  14. I'm not a builder though. I'm not working for a builder. I'm an arborist working for Arborists.
  15. WHAT??? Since when? I'm an arborist, not a builder. Worked on sites loads, never had this before. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
  16. Felling a tree is an absolute piece of piss????? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji3] Wrong. It's potentially deadly.
  17. So I got a call from the contractors wife, She's saying they might have to tax me at source??? Because I'm felling on a construction site. I'm self employed, have been since 2013. Worked for loads of different companies. Never heard this before. Anyone?
  18. Did my cs32 three weeks ago. 15-18" bar for the course.
  19. Just a saw and a couple of wedges if it's large. Big gob cut, big big hinge then back cut, leaving extra wood on the side. 90 degrees yes. 91+degrees only with a winch. Apparently 8feet up the tree from the winch anchor height is the absolute minimum for leverage. Obviously the higher you go the more leverage. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  20. Why not just use a standard gob cut to get the tree 90degrees from lean? I do this regularly.
  21. I've done a few months for Bob, and I can honestly say it was and honour and an education. You couldn't ask for a better boss, he actually listens to his staff and takes ideas onboard. [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  22. Listen to the engine, it should sing about 10-11krpm. Any higher or lower and it's not helping the saw. You shouldn't need to push hard, just gently guide the mill along. Avoid seesawing try keep the saw and mill 90degrees to the trunk. With really gnarly lumpy irregular trunks it's more difficult. Also once past midway I find the vertical depth bar likes to jam into soft bark and sapwood, so heaving it out and along can leave marks. Having every tooth and depth gauges set on a grinder really helps to keep vibrations down and cut smoothly. I've heard good reports about hyper skip but I've not tried it yet. Also if you haven't' already get several different size ratchet spanners. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
