  1. I think this is common knowledge.
  2. Not one iota. 90% of the population could die and all they will think about is who's gonna fund their lifestyles.
  3. Is your home included? We used to get free tatties and berries when we worked the farms. is that the same with you? Daffies too, but there's only so much of them you can fit in the house.
  4. Well, if thats your opinion Im not going to bother trying to change it.
  5. What I mean is I often get told I speak shite and occasionally make a good point. Kinda like a broken clock is right twice a day.
  6. Yeh, I get that a lot. The meme below kinda sums it up.
  7. Nothing quiet beats the feeling of having your fingers swollen and infected from pushing them below the earth to get the required length on the Daffies. Or the Rubber Band fights at break time.
  8. Yip, it sucks. Yip it sucks. I agree. That is an issue. I was brought up picking Daffies, then Daffie Bulbs, then Berries, then Tatties. Our Holidays, at least in Scotland are based around the harvests. Im 40, so we're not talking about a vastly long time ago, and there was a lot of adults supplementing either their income or benefits by working the harvests. What's changed? Well, I think you've highlighted that above. I agree. Correct. Does not even need to be the main Bread Winners income. It could be a supplementary wage. Completely agree. Too many bleeding hearts unfortunately, making it very difficult for any government to fix this.
  9. Bloody hell. That must have been a bit worrying. Shes got a dry cough which is getting worse, had it for over a week now. A fever and her chest is getting increasingly tight. Hopefully it comes to nothing more serious.
  10. Same with my missus, shes really not well but coping, seems to have all the symptoms, especially with her chest/lungs.
  11. Why should British people be expected to work the fields for so little? Before mass immigration from Eastern Europe it was predominantly British people that did the harvesting, myself included. We have grown far to used to food at throw away prices. What we pay for fresh fruit and veg does not reflect the true cost. ID be happy to pay more for fresh food knowing that we where supporting not only the farmers but creating jobs, albeit seasonal, for British people, or whomever is already in the UK. Although the Farmers are somewhat to blame for the system they created of relying on foreign workers and housing them like Battery Chickens. To then call the British people who are not willing to work in those conditions, or for so little is an insult. It would be a massive step backwards to accept that kind of standards. So lets see what the Government and Farmers come up with? If anything positive comes out of this this could be it.
  12. BoJo said he'd be working from home. Currently he has mild symptoms only.
  13. I dont watch much if any TV. Certainly not turned one on in the last 15 days. Seems to be an Aussie expression. As I have an Aussie Car I frequent their forums. Interestingly they are not nearly so presumptuous nor get their panties bunched up so easily.
  14. Where abouts in the North East? I might know of some Forfar way, he'd expect paying though.
  15. Its handy to know for sure. When sanding I'll deffo start wearing one.
  16. Thank you for putting politics aside and displaying some genuine empathy. Its times like this people really start to pull together for the benefit of the whole country.
  17. Makes sense. I like having my wee hobby Mill, but cant see there ever being money in it unless like you say, you add value to it.
  18. A lovely little reminder! Cant imagine there is much money in it either? A lot of graft for little reward.
  19. Who said you should get a job in Tescos? Seems like the guidelines are slightly less muddied and folk can continue to go to work. Like I said in a previous post, your family comes first. Id be ignoring all the other bills. As Ive not worked since December moneys been a bit thin, so Ive already had to call a couple of banks and tell them I'll not be paying them for a while, then this struck just as I was finally able to get back to work. Ive already burned though most of my savings. There is literally nothing left. The next thing I'll have to do is sell my old car, in a time like this Id be lucky to get half its value, if it sells at all. If I get furloughed, which thankfully is looking less likely, Id get zero help from the UK or Norwegian Governments. If I do get some work I'm gonna have to be away for my family for 6-8 weeks. Ive not had to do that for over 10 years now. Its going to be incredibly difficult for my wife with the wee ones and no real money coming in till 4 weeks after I actually do start working. The bills will get covered but thats about it. So we're really all in the same boat. For both of us providing for our families is essential and its gonna be tough for a while, for all of us.
  20. I can easily see that. people are spending a lot more than 50% more of their time locked in the house. Its inevitable they will need or want to heat their home for the same duration.
