  1. Maybe, its not how Im interpreting it though.
  2. Partially yes. But if you think there will not be a financial penalty to the everyday people in the UK you're in for a nasty shock. You cant print money indefinitely without inflation going off the scale. We're not the US, our currency is not in global demand. There's not one shithole Ive worked that does not accept good old USD. wave a fiver at them and you've got a long walk home.
  3. Nope, it sure does not. Hence my breath holding analogy. Its just something that has to be done in interim. But at a huge financial cost, one that will need paid back. Something that is not sustainable for any length of time. As Im sure you can understand.
  4. Right, Im with ya now. So with the pressure from the left. Would you not say that the Tories are doing a good job of keeping the needle in the middle? The packages for the vast majority of people on PAYE is rather good is it not? The Money being pumped into the NHS is rather good is it not? Potentially we'll be (maybe partially) re-nationalising the air and rail. Surely thats a lot of what you want politically? Its just done with more restraint, and not a willy-nilly hand out to the dross of society.
  5. People need food, like really need it. Tesco are not delivering in my area anymore, or at least for a week. People should not be standing to close together. They should know better, but then so should we. Im quite sure you really dont need to carry on doing the work you're planning on doing. Its only a few weeks, pretend you've broke a leg or something.
  6. What? My house has three doors.
  7. Ive got a back entrance I can sneak in.
  8. I was thinking the same damn thing. Dont think the pensions work like that though, you need to be in it to win it etc. (I think)It only counts for the years your contributing.
  9. Now that would be silly. We can be a capitalist country with a strong social welfare can we not? Works in Scandinavia so why not here? The problem arises when the balance of social verses capitalism swings too far in either direction. We need the yin and we need the Yang. The trick is to keep the metronome in the middle.
  10. 'socialistic leanings' like in this crisis is much akin to holding your breath to get through a flooded room. You can do it for a short burst to get you through the danger zone but hold it much longer and it will kill you.
  11. Not sure where the linch mobs gone? Maybe they put everyone on block?
  12. His speach is just that, a speach. The nitty gritty is in the legal docs, and if you're inclined, how you perceive your responsibility to your fellow man is. Happy days. Walk, beer and a whisky. About sums up my day too. Oh, and placating the missus who is propper freaking out now as it looks less likely Ill be able to get back home any time soon now. Apart from that its all good. -:D
  13. The Speech is a catch all. Its simplistic in its nature. The post above clearly indicates what is and is not allowed.
  14. Im not gonna argue with you. Like I said my brother and a lot of my friends are self employed. I want whats best for them too! I know they pay very little tax and NI after everything you mention and what Ive mention is written off as tax. They always have a giggle at how little they pay, and Im not adverse to that. Who wants to pay more tax? If I could pay less I would too! My point is its hardly unknown to the HMRC is it? Nothing gets past them. All Im saying is I cant see them getting a bleeding heart over SE guys.
  15. Look at Nicks post above then come back and tell us what you dont understand.
  16. I get that. Im also holed up in a small room for the next 12 days. I think the post just before this one kinda clears it up. Gotta keep the wolves from the door.
  17. I think that time is over.
  18. Travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary. If you have to travel to work, it seems to heavily indicate when the job is absolutely necessary. Be it NHS, Fire Servies, Police, Tree Surgeon going out to fell a tree away to fall in on a house etc. Not to make a few quid.
  19. Is trying to find loop-holes in this the best solution?
  20. Maybe you should just do as your told?
  21. You're allowed out for exercise, so yes, your own garden is ok. You can still go buy food when needed.
