  1. Got a chance to buy a Wytch Elm Burr. Bur itself is 600mm x 600mm x 500mm not including the rest of the log. Bone dry supposedly. Can’t get it less than £100. Worth it?
  2. I use this as well. Seems OK. I seem to get sent 50% off ebay vouchers every so often so use them to buy chain and 2 stroke oil.
  3. How much does a veneer cut command?
  4. Ive resawn Two to three year oak on my Mill without a problem. I did tighten the band past the optimum setting though. Cut nice.
  5. Damn! I think they’re the best looking slabs I’ve seen on here to date! Bet they bring in a pretty penny.
  6. Im 6.1" I think Id prefer the X25 than the X27 to be honest, but I like a slightly higher chopping Block. At 5.7" I feel you'd be at an even bigger disadvantage than myself. The light weight means you really have to swing on slightly knotty stuff like Spruce. I have the Husky S1600 as well, nice little splitting axe. Perfect for straight grained hardwood.
  7. Thats a real shame Les. Curious why you unblocked me then?
  8. Get over yourself, Pal.
  9. I never mentioned you in my last post and I was not referring to you either. Les made that claim in this very thread, but I guess your White Knight internet savior mode is only reserved for my posts? And yes, if pushed enough my viscous streak comes out, pal.....
  10. They work together? ?‍♂️ I notice it never bothered you when he was calling another members wife fat? Selective disgust maybe?
  11. There’s something seriously wrong with you Less. A Logosol B1001 would suit a Farmer down to the ground if he wanted a new Mill. They are a well built Mill. The OP asked me my experiences with mine B751 and I was happy to answer his questions. Now you may well say Woodmizers are the best, but what Mills have you personally owned yourself? As far as I’m aware you’ve just had Woodland Mills, nothing wrong with that but don’t give it the Billy Big Balls because you’re in chicken shit territory pretending you’re the big man. Do you even own a Mill anymore? Or are you just scooting around in your knackered old digger licking windows with your son? You’ve actually added nothing to this conversation other than making snide potshots and have nothing to back your point of view up than your experience of someone stupid enough to let you have a go on their Woodmizer and now you think your an expert in all things Woodmizer. So how about you STFU and maybe post the pictures of that staircase you’ve been promising to for months but are to scared to.
  12. For sure! A log deck is simply the best solution. Gently roll the log on by hand. No shocks or judders to the Mill and checking alignment again. (Portable) But out in the field I do like the Avant. It’s very manoeuvrable. The log grab allows me to position the log any which way I like and can be eased onto the bed. Does not always work out that way of course. ? I also have the Winch and ramps. Also works great.
  13. Yeh, bought my Mill through them. I stopped calling them after the first few weeks as it was pointless, ended up just dealing with Per direct. Davies must just drop them an email and forget all about it.
  14. Davies per chance? Do you deal with Per, the UK rep? He's always been really good with me.
  15. Up where I live we've had lock-down from 16:00 to 23:00 because of the miggies for years now.
  16. Following on in that vein I wonder if there is enough trunk there to be milled into slabs? Make a nice chunky Park Bench and maybe even a Side Table?
  17. I think they are Bacho? Could be worth looking on their site as Logosol will most likely stock Logosol Sizes? Thinking about hard dry wood I’m planning on re-sawing dry Ash Slabs. [emoji33] Guess I need to look into Carbide blades or some frozen timber ones.
  18. Osmo is what I coated my kitchen worktop I installed in my house in Norway, very popular for that and you can get a more harder wearing version for floors I believe? It lasts quite a while but dont do what the folk renting the house off of me did and that was use it as a chopping board. They cut right through to the wood and water etc got in. Its an easy fix though, sand back and recoat. As a coffee table the Osmo Hardwax would be perfect, it can take some abuse. Still, my go-to is still Danish Oil. (I should get shares in that stuff. )
  19. Cant beat a good bit of hand splitting to vent some frustration. Do you use a tyre to hold the rounds in? Was gonna do that but got the Splitter instead as its splits in the horizontal and vertical. So great for the big rounds. What it does not split it just smooshes apart, knotty bits and unions etc.
  20. Farmers eh? [emoji3] I built my Log Deck out of treated 8” beams. On a very slight slope and dug in at the rear so it’s only 12” off the deck at the back.
  21. Keeps you fit if nothing else. [emoji3] Im filling a 1.25m3 bag an hour with my wee petrol Splitter. Thats including clogging up with the Chainsaw and driving the logs over to the bag with the lawn tractor and bogie. A 4 way splitting head, a set of tongs to pick the logs up and im hardly breaking a sweat. Saves my back as im not bending over at all.
  22. Whilst the Fiskars are good its not as good as they hype makes out. I have the X27 and think its good, but not great. The head starts quite narrow to get good penetration then splays right out to split the log. But if you're not making much head-way with the the Maul you have I think you're gonna see a slight improvement with the Fiskars but not enough to make you think it was a good buy. How much logs do you have to get through and is it a constant supply? If your shoulders are not great then maybe its time to consider either a Petrol or as Eggs mentioned an Electric splitter.
  23. Avants with a Log Grab are brilliant bits of kit. The 750 can lift 1.5t quite easily and is a dream to load onto the bed. I get a buddies in for £100 from Friday to Monday morning, delivered inc fuel. But for me the easiest solution is the Log Deck I built. Once they are loaded on I have over 10t of Logs that just need rolled over onto the Mill when its in position. Thats either loading up the deck with the Avant or when I get logs delivered they get loaded right onto the deck and behind it.
