  1. Out of interest, all problems aside, which machine do you rate as the best just based on chipping performance?

    Stump grinding

    Kingwell holdings
  3. Bin them and get new. Not worth getting diesel bug for two old containers
  4. Softwood is bad news for smoking food.
  5. How much food are you planning on smoking. That’s a lot of wood

    Pole pruners

The fiskars up86 is good for the money and fairly light
  7. Had it got three positions for the switch on top or 4?
  8. I’ve got the same saw. Maybe a bit older. Had similar problems with it. Ended up putting it in to greens in Hadleigh, Suffolk. They said Stihl did a subsidised kit consisting of new carb, flywheel and ignition module which they fitted. It’s run fine since. Hope this helps
  9. Whats the green car in the picture please
  10. These guys do Jensen parts. Based in north Essex P.Tuckwell LTD, Ardleigh Hall, Dedham Rd, Colchester, Essex, CO7 7LG

    Blower died

I had a similar issue with a blower. Would run and then shut down. Spark plug was the problem
  12. Don’t mess about with a tap and die set. Spend the money you were planning on spending on the tap set on a second hand hub. Could be opening up a hornets nest with the insurance if anything goes wrong at a later date and if you family were injured or worse then you wouldn’t be able to forgive yourself. I know I wouldn’t. Just my opinion though
  13. Mason wood chippers get a thumbs up from me also. John is very knowledgeable but the thing I liked the most was that he kept me updated and called you back when he said he would. Would definitely recommend
  14. Out of the two saws I’ve only used the 461 and have found that to to be a cracking saw as well. I would have got the 461 but the 462 came out so I thought I’d go for that instead and I haven’t been disappointed by it. The weight difference is quite noticeable although the bar is 5 inches shorter than what I’ve used on the 461
  15. The 462 is an awesome saw
  16. I’ve got a 54 plate 3.5t Mercedes tipper and an 08 hilux insured for business use with Aviva. Full ncd, fully comp, 10k miles a year per vehicle. Paid around £540.
  17. I put a tarpaulin at the front over the cage when chipping to stop the chip going through the mesh at the front and tip the body up as well but bits of chip still find their way over the top. I find the advantage of using the tarp instead of Perspex is that I can take the tarp down when finished so I can see out the back for reversing. Makes life a lot easier than just relying on the two doors mirrors. For me anyway
  18. No I haven’t but I’m thinking of putting something across the top at the front to stop the chip getting thrown over the top of the cab. It covers the windscreen when it rains and sits on the panel between the windscreen and the bonnet. The marine ply on the sides has lasted a good few years and hasn’t started to delaminate yet
  19. This is what I put on my van 8x4 marine ply with a wooden frame made from 3x3 pallet wood

  21. Hi Paul Thanks for your reply to my post about a tip site. I googled tiptree air field. It came back with a site at birch aerodrome. Is this the place you meant? I gave them a call. They charge £25+vat per tonne. Was hoping to get something cheaper than that. Something like a farmer with a field or another tree surgeon who sells the chip on and let's others tip in their yard even for a small fee. If you or anybody else knows of anywhere like this please get back to me or pm me! Thanks in advance Scott Thrower
  22. Hi all Does anybody know of any tip sites around the Colchester area for green waste and wood chip etc that doesn't charge the earth. Any help or advise would be much appreciated. Regards Scott thrower aka Essex!
