  1. Nice one, got a chainsaw jacket to sell
  2. Is the one you mention TKF training, as they have supplied the equipment needed for every course I have attended.
  3. Where are you based and who are you doing the training with?
  4. Shame it's not like that in Britain
  5. Don't do it. If some of the kids did get sick because of the chip you dropped off could see a whole world of trouble coming your way! Not saying it would be your fault I just know I wouldn't want the aggro!
  6. And that is all Amey care about, money. Go for the cheapest option evertyime and then talk a good game about what they are doing is the right choice for everyone. Also Amey bosses didn't want any landscaping or arb jobs in the contract, all they were bothered about was the highways ( roads, paths, street lights and traffic lights) Sheffield City Council put in the contract that Amey must take on the landscaping and arb side of things too. That's just mine and many other people's opinion though as they will never admit that.
  7. No option of a transfer yet. Waiting to see if the company will pay for my cs 38 / 39 course though. After that who knows!?
  8. Sorry guys & girls but this is another 'groundie looking for work' type of thread. So, I'm currently employed full-time with Amey ( ) on a landscaping team but, like many others, want to do Arboriculture work. I have my cs 30 and 31 tickets and also woodchipper licence along with other qualifications(see sig for basics) I am also booked in to do the cs 38 / 39 course in April. My dilemma is that I've never worked for an arb's team before so don't have the experience to jump stright into a team on a wage similair to what I'm on now or what experienced climbers/groundsmen are on. At the same time I also can't afford to take a massive pay cut(mortgage, kids, bills etc to pay) Basically what im looking for is someone to give me experience doing weekend work for them. I don't mind if I'm just dragging and raking as long I can say I have experience working in an arb's team and learn more about the trade, climbing techniques, knots and so on. I have already had a couple of members from the forum message me offering me days work and I'm very grateful for that. If anyone else has room for me to help out drop me a message. Please note I do work full-time, Mon-Fri, 7-3.30 so can only do weekends. Cheers Midge.
  9. Cold but clear here. Hopefully warm up inabit, had enough of the cold now!
  10. I work for Amey, but not involved with this. At the start I thought what they were doing was correct but now I'm starting to think differently.
  11. Hey Eddie mind me asking who you work for in the week?
  12. Is the rope they are pulling on attached to the climber or are they trying to pull the tree down

    eBay

Did not know that! Gumtree seems a lot easier and cheaper then ebay for posting ads, but like you say must have an ulterior motive behind it

    eBay

**** ebay off and use Gumtree. No ad fees (unless you choose to upgrade your ad) no selling fees or anything!
  15. Depends what you class an an emergency? If someone's partner or child was injured or fell seriously ill then yes definitely let them go. If it's something like they forgot to lock front door or let the cat out then no. Common sense decision at the time I suppose. Also depends on how big the job at the time of emergency is!
  16. Agree. Wish our company would spend that amount of money on us
  17. Yeah weather was too serverer to try do Crib Goch this time round, saving it for summer now. Have a few photos but can't upload them all. Will try again in this post.
  18. Ended up doing Snowdon last weekend. Not the horseshoe route though, just went up pyg track to the summit then retraced our steps back down. Really enjoyed myself and was a good walk!
  19. Ant pics of the tree Andy? Be nice to see it before it does (or doesn't) get butchered
  20. Maybe I should have worded this better but my point was that it is the older members of society that seem to be the ones most likely to cause or have an accident. Hearing and sight deteriorate with age (with most people) which is why I belive at 65 you should have to retest for a driving licence.
  21. Yep, I bought a top handle saw a few days ago (off internet) and was never asked what qualifications I have to be able to use the saw. My CS 38 / 39 course isn't until April but there is nothing stopping me from using the saw before then!
