  1. Torys have lifted the ban on ivory now Why? Just why? Beggers belief
  2. I was in england id vote labour as the torys are despicable. Still dont think labour will win the election though
  3. Do you mean length or diameter ? Length depends on what system/knot your using. Diameter 8-10mm
  4. Clocked that one earlier in the thread and had a look on youtube...looks difficult but im game:001_smile:
  5. I hit just over 2 minutes earlier but i was trembling like a fat kid in a cake shop. Some of you guys over 3 minutes is tremendous-clearly i have some work to do.
  6. Yeah the fella i was talking to at the gym did say only do planks in short spells just to test your capabilities as its not great long term. By the looks of it and the times guys are posting arb work creates good core strength
  7. I wasnt promoting labour matey pop,i was highlighting the torys intentions to rob the elderly by means of another stealth tax. I completely agree with you-i dont think corbyn is seen as a genuine electable candidate and as such will cost labour the election, altgough if recent polls are to be believed labour have gained some momentum and popularity but in my opinion this has more to do with Theresea Mays antics of late
  8. Never really gave it much though tbh,to me a days work is a days work-weekday or weekend doesnt matter. Its a conscideration for other im sure though
  9. Brazilian dwarf fart porn just doesnt do it for me anymore mate..
  10. Yeah thats planking not wanking joe..
  11. For me price is dependant on job role rather than time
  12. Elbow plank is more challenging as you cant lock your elbows as with the press up position plank
  13. For me thats job and time dependant,120 a day for climbing rigging sectional felling etc. Grounding tends to be an hourly rate for me as the firms i sub for usually have there own guys on the deck-in fact i could count on one hand the times ive worked on the deck over the last 18 months. I never done forestry or coppicing so i couldnt comment on that side of things
  14. Biggest stealth tax in history. Please take time too read this http://anotherangryvoice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/the-tory-dementia-tax.html?m=1 Sent from my SM-G900F using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. G day all, Im a bit of a gym nut,i like too keep myself fit and strong and i know some of you are the same. Ive been going to the gym longer than ive been climbing but once i started climbing i noticed a steady increase in my weights on compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts, rows and presses. Speaking to one of the gym instructors about this he said it was to do with an improvement in core strength which would be a bi product of the tree climbing. He said a good test is too do a plank and hold that position for as long as possible. The plank is lying in a press up position but with your elbows and forearms on the ground rather than your hands. You should also be on your tip toes and hold that position for as long as you can. It sounds really easy but its very humbling exercise if your lower back/abdominal walls are weak. If you can hold for a 90 seconds thats extremelly good Between 1minute to 90 seconds is good 45secs to a minute is average Under 45 and you need to improve. Dont under estimate the results of this simple test,it can highlight a weak lower back, weak abdominals and obliques.Id be interested to see how the climbers fair on this one,we should have a better time than others due to the physical pressure exerted on our core during climbing. Im just getting near the really good at 1 minute 22. Anyone want to have a go and post there results? Oh and you cant do this if your beer belly touches the ground while in the plank position -sorry bollam.

  17. It would seem your looking for a team leader or part time team leader when your off site quoting or whatever. Wage wise is dependant on your geographical position in the UK.Workers down south earn more than up north seems to be the norm as far as i can deduce. Up here in central Scotland i can get 120 a day climbing with my own gear,im not the fastest but i take pride in my job,im diligent,i prioritise safety and i like to have a laugh with the guys and get the job done. Another big part of the job is the ability too deal with the client who -lets be honest-can sometimes be a major pita. If this is what your looking for then it will take time and patience to find the right individual. As mentioned before go on the social media arb sites and look for people who are passionate about arb work as those are the keepers. Unfortunatly for you these types of employees are in long term employment and well paid because of there work ethic and loyalty. Good luck finding the right employee mate
  18. Andrews do good boots, ive got long narrow feet so i couldnt say if they suit wider feet. Ive been wearing the andrews chervino chainsaw boots and believe them to be better than the much promoted but very over rated meindl airstreams
  19. Slow week on arbtalk then
  20. What size are you mate? Reason i ask is ive got a couple of extra pairs of type c trousers i could send you if your struggling. All i ask is you cover the postage...usually about 12 quid. Pm me if your interested..i wouldnt see anyone struggle for ppe
  21. It may well have compromised the safety material of the trousers, but they might be ok-are you willing to risk it? If it were me id buy new ones. As said above Yukons are pretty cheap compared to other makes so just replace
  22. True...although there seems to be some that nit pick and revel in arguements which ruin and derail threads to the point where others dont want to comment or take part.
  23. We all have our opinions which weve aired so i ll just say thanks for posting the pictures john, looks like a great place to work and have a positive influence on the young ones coming through in the industry. Oh and sack that tutor for letting that student put his gob in too high..lol
  24. You ever been in a tree felling course eggs? 4 students to 1 tutor means its difficult to keep an eye on everything all the students are doing. I get what your sayin but these are students and even with the best of direction they will still do things wrong.
  25. Fair point but maybe just maybe it was the apprentices first time putting a tree the deck. My 1st attempt at felling was bloody awful. People need practice before perfection is achieved
