  1. Amazon do a basic vest for £3, available even cheaper when bought in bulk
  2. Very impressed by that... Looks very labour intensive but naturaly artistic and aestheticly pleasing.
  3. U know what they say about opinions and assholes... Would be a dull world indeed if we agreed on well... anything...
  4. Isnt lying a pre requisite to becoming a politician...
  5. Pm wes d he has a blue pair, seem em on instagram
  6. I think nick clegg would have made a decent prime minister had he not compromised his partys policies and got into bed with the tories
  7. Are you matelot in diguise... You realise farage is a liar, bigot and misogynist... Clearly you dont
  8. We all were orange hiviz t shirts or jackets in the colder months, both have reflective panels to meet EN standards. No one really enforces us to wear hiviz we just do,and ive first hand seen hiviz avert accidents so to me its a no brainer to wear it.
  9. 5ft 9,162lbs 9% body fat...yeah im on the small side except my ass-it sticks out with the years of squatting at the gym I find it waist sizes i struggle with the mediums fit in the legs and ass but the waist is up to my tits!
  10. Yes me too stubby...cant handle banks now they seem to have morphed into a sales workshop for the most annoying members of society, seriously i used to go in every friday afternoon but the constant trying to sell me,house insurance, contents insurance, car and van insurance, loans, upgrade on my debit account, credit card blah blah blah...
  11. Obviously climbing takes its toll on the body but as mentioned before mechanical devices, ascenders etc have greatly helped us to make the job more ergonomical. 40 isnt too old,i came into tree work mid to late 30's and i stay fit aswell to keep my body as tuned in as possible. Dont forget groundwork can be punishing aswell, draggin brash, chipping, carrying logs, crosscutting timber, lowering etc all day knocks your pan in. As an"older gentleman" (no offence), your age may actually go in your favour with prospective employers as younger workers tend to take sickies, show up late or fanny around on there phones and generally take liberties when you wont. My advice would be get your cs30/31 and chipper tickets get in with a firm and see how it goes.If in 6 months time your still keen to climb then go for it...or maybe some kind hearted boss will invest in you and pay to put you through it. Good luck buddy
  12. Asda self scan checkouts... Do..my...tits...right...in.. Ask you if you dont want to bag an item after scanning each item...ffs!!! Asks if you purchased a 5p bag then asks how many after you've pressed the no bags purchased button...ahhh!! Need some paracetamol...??? Hang on 10 minutes while some spotty 17 year old drags his ass along to you to type in a code to ALLOW you the pleasure to purchase your pain killers- All this scanning is done at a volume set so high it makes my fillings vibrate... Oh and the best for last... 18p change...yip 1x5p 10x2p's and 3x1p's... F#@k u asda f#@k u...!!!!!
  13. Ive had too many beers to be able to deal with this thread...maybe tomorrow when im sober
  14. Kevin you could call me alot of things but sensitive i aint... You did offer up the pole pruner as an option to which i offered my opinion but lets get back to the original question. Mewps are an option when climbing isnt, although mewps have there limitations aswell-rigging a tree with a mewp is very difficult and time consuming in my experience. Given an option between the two id climb everytime,i just feel more comfortable in the tree than i do in a bucket... Theres also the fact we call mewps poof wagons...so there is a stigma attatched to using em when you can climb.
  15. Dont see why you would say parochial... Perhaps your meaning im narrow minded or inexperienced in using pole pruners where in fact i am very experienced. These were just examples of what could happen when using a pole pruner in that situation. It would seem you dont like being questioned hence you think its ok to poke fun at someone and revert to name calling, almost childlike, for daring to have a different opinion from yourself. I can pretty much guarentee im no twinky, climbing for years and weight training at the gym takes care of that. Im bowing out of this discussion... Its impossible to exchange opinions with self rightous twits with a stick up there ass....or is it a pole??
  16. How would you collect the cuttings? What if the pole pruner got pinched in the cut? Have you ever used a pole pruner at full extension horizontally? If you had you wouldnt see it as an option. Are you aware that pole pruners are very high in hand and arm vibrations Totally wrong tool for the job!
  17. Id have to disagree matty, ive done plenty of conifer hedging where ive had to take alot of the top and waist anchoring in with a lanyard while standing on branches stretching over with a saw or hedgecutter is not great for balance or ergonomic for those of us with a dodgy back and shit elbows. Given an option id always prefer a overhead anchor point, just allows me to attain better work position. I get others have and will see this differently but i really dont see a problem in the op's pictures.
  18. Mk3 zz is great, ive used it for srt aswell with no issues.
  19. I use a footloop so i dont use the built in one matty.Maybe give it a bash just to see if its robust enough to handle it
  20. Never had zermatts mate so i couldnt comment
  21. Got mines in march(original post) didnt really start wearing them daily till August and there holding up very well. Warm, comfy and opposed too what some say ive no problems with em on spikes(treehogs). Would recommend them as i think meindls have lost it,last pair(airstreams) lasted under a year, really cold in winter and no good for pruning in icy/slippery conditions.
  22. Have too agree and say id rather work off a high anchor in coni hedges than fanny around with waist anchors. The only time ive fell out anything was a conifer hedge, lanyard caught me but i dropped the hedgecutters about 12 feet. Id say he probably climbs more, so is quicker and more ergonomic using a high anchor point than conatantly having to move a mewp around.
  23. Ive tried srt for a while with a zz which has a built in swivel at the bottom biner attachment, which doesnt create rope hockling. Dunno if a swivel on your bridge would differ though
  24. No but he has issues spelling... Hen Spoderjack...
  25. I like stihl hiflex cause the mediums fit me perfect although i only get a year out of em.X fits are a decent climbing trousers but not great for ground work as they dont hold up well too brambles and thorns. Pfanner gladiators are the best trousers ive had for climbing and all other arb work, although they re very expensive. Arbortecs are utterly shite and i hate them so id recommend not to touch them even though im positive some others will rave about them. Be careful of sizing Im a medium in xfits and hiflex, a small in pfanner gladiators yet im an extra small in pfanner stretch airs, in breathflex im inbetween small and medium... My advice is go to an arb shop and try before you buy
