I would agree harness choice is very much a personal choice,im not sure how i would describe my climbing style,but as a tree surgeon id say i climb ropes rather than trees. I still have my petzl sit harness which i used for ariel rescue course and then retired it.Maybe it would be good for spiking and pole work.just my opinion

Yeah sorry to burst your bubble mate.Im pretty sure the sit and sit fast harnesses were designed to be combined with the petzl top croll chest harness to also make it a fall arrest harness. But steer clear

Wouldnt recommend petzl avao harness for professional climber,part time or recreational possibley. I found it tortured my knackers,little to no back support and the fixed anchor ring is extremly limiting when moving around the tree and getting into a comfy work position. Its cheap for a reason-its crap

Hi bird,do yourself a favour keep working for your dad,ive just read this whole thread and it sounds like your head is all over the place.Keep working for yourself part time,that way you can gain valuable experience and build up a good client base. Getting a business up and running and in profit takes time and experience which by the sounds of things you have very little of both. Im not being rude but your trying to sprint before you can crawl.Remember there are many other companies out there better equiped,more experienced and have a established quality reputation. Money is not the everything you know

Some days id love to joe however,my employers(local council) say chainsaw gloves are PPE and as such must be worn. The only option i see is to prove that chainsaw gloves offer no additional protection when operating a chainsaw.All the guys in the squad agree,my boss however is a different matter.

Are the gloves better than the trousers..? Seriously its not about what brand of chainsaw gloves its should employers force employees to wear them when they,in my opinion,dont provide any protection when using the chainsaw.

The threads getting slightly derailed here,im not askin what gloves others wear or recommend i wear the question is Anyone think we NEED "chainsaw" gloves considering the safety features on modern chainsaws? Cheers

Hello all, Ive never liked wearing chainsaw cut proof gloves although my employers insist we do. The goat skin leather ones get mega slippery in the wet,not good when your holding a dangerous handtool. In the instance of a derailed chain the rear hand guard and chain catcher prevents injury.In the event of a kickback the chainbrake would protect the hand,also some saws have the inertia safety feature aswell.I really dont see the point in them amymore. Opinions appreciated folks.
