    I would always adhere to manufacturers specs for machinery. Not that i doubt your credibility and experience,im just giving the best advice i can as we dont even know what oils are being mixed at this stage.I always go by if in doubt DONT

    I dont think ive ever been asked to show certificates,just NPTC skills card on occasion. To be fair i thought it would be dearer for replacements. I was told its an extra £10 to get your skills card laminated at time of issue.

    Mixing 2 oils is fine if they are the same viscosity and meet the manufacturers specification,however if they are different then that is where id say no to mixing.Why would you mix 2 oils of different specs? To save a couple of quid?? Imo thats a false economy.Your compromising the optimum performance of the chainsaw,increased wear on components,increased vibration levels and ultimately reducing the longevity of the machine.

    There are so many other things,knots hitches climbing systems etc but i feel it would do more harm than good to overload you on information.learn the basics,listen to the instructor,take it slow and just enjoy it.Above all else TRUST your equipment,u wont fall off

    First master the closed climbing system.This is where you tie a termination knot and a friction hitch with just your climbing rope.I was taught a running bowline secured to the carabiner on your harness to a blakes hitch and stopper knot at the tail-usually a figure of 8.Others may say different and there are other options but this is the system i first learned.It is very important as it could get you out of **** one day(i would hope you never have to).Master this system before you move on to anything else.knots i use,besides the ones above,fishermans,alpine butterfly and hitches distel, clove and prussik.Good luck

    Quick answer is no,i wouldnt recommend it.Some brands like stihl have there own chainsaw oil,because its quite runny-it has been compared to piss in the past. Other brands are more viscous,this is usually due to the diameter of the oil lubrication system in each brand of saw being different.

    This would be up to each individual employer to determine. Some employers MAY look at the lantra qualification as a certificate of training and request you get NPTC assessed under there own company guidelines. If i were an employer with two individuals competing for a vacancy, one with lantra,one with NPTC-id take the NPTC trained individual.

    You would have to find that one out off people working abroad on these forums. In my own case for cs30/31, lantra ran the coarse and arranged an NPTC assessor for the assessment.

    How many vans have you seen driving around with "all staff trained to Lantra standard" -few if any. NPTC is the required industry standard for most arboriculture companies,i think for insurance purposes,although im not 100% sure.NPTC are also recognised in a lot of other countries.
