  1. We do lots and lots of rhododendron clearance every year. The way to do it is as follows: Cut and burn any rhody over a couple of feet tall, it will burn very well if you get your fire right to begin with. Do this anytime from September until early March. Leave the site for 1 growing season and head back during the second summer, timing doesn't make much difference and spray the regrouth with Glyphosate. You will then need to go back in the following summer to treat anything that was missed.
  2. Thanks for everyones replies. I cleaned the carb myself, not a professional by any means. The trouble is that the saw is not worth enough to warrant taking it in to someone to look it. May as well leave it on the shelf for spares. I'll check out the fuel lines and other bits people have mentioned, any tips on carb cleaning would be gratefully received. Thanks again everyone!
  3. PS - Air filter all blown out and looks clean. Worth buying a new one?
  4. Thanks a lot, Spud. What's the best way to check the fuel line? The machine has been used fairly frequently for a year, would that be enough to wear the bore/piston? What did you mean by 'nipped up'? Thanks so much.
  5. Year old Stihl MS231 running very badly. Carb cleaned and still the same, just seems down on power. Any ideas?
  6. Hi, I have a largeish (possibly a week or so) job coming up this winter near Michelmersh in Hampshire. Could anyone who would be interested in quoting on this please email [email protected]. Must be fully insured and fully trained.
  7. Are they fully waterproof like the HUsqvarna's?
  8. Has anyone used/bought the Stein Explorer mk3 boots? I usually go for the Husqvarna Technical 24 which have the waterproof gusset. Any advice on the above would be great.
  9. Hi, Has anybody converted a tractor seat without a swivel function to one with one? If so, did you buy a new seat or use a swivel converter?
  10. There isn't too much need to use Pro Bio unless you're using it due to being on SSSi site. Either way you will want to get your hands on a small hand sprayer (link below), this is a much safer and easier option than a paint brush. Also, add some dye (food colouring works fine) so you can see which stumps have been treated. Weed killer sprayer : Cooper Pegler, sale of the trigger sprayer CP 1,5
  11. Had some go for fencing this year and will have more next winter if you're still interested. Could you let me know the rate for the 8ft's and 12ft's at roadside? Cheers, Rob
  12. Been asked by a client to trial some Rhodo drilling and injecting with a 10% glyphosate solution during the summer. Has anyone done this and if so what were your results?
