  1. Why not charge them £50 or something? That way they’re a paying client and your insurance covers it. And try not to kill any volunteers.
  2. Presumably that’s Krone. €4300, strong money for that but certainly warranted.
  3. I think he’d pretty much reconciled himself to crossing Disneyland off his wish list anyway.
  4. It’s a nothing story imo. Otherwise Dubya would have one as well, if anyone thinks Putin or the Russian public give a monkey’s toss about this, they want their heads looking at.
  5. Well I dunno, maybe they’re swinging the lead, maybe not, if I had been sent to a job like that you’d have heard me cursing from the next county. I would have specified it down to 5ft so they don’t have to use a ladder or anything, 6.5ft is a bastard height to achieve.
  6. There’s a backstory here that I think you should share first.
  7. I think this is worth a bump for those who haven’t seen it. Natural crotch rigging and climber lowering is a bit of a forgotten art and one of my favourite little tricks for speeding a job up. Also, my nephew met Grahame Macmahon in an arborist store today (yesterday) in Melbourne, so it reminded me of this vid. My advice watch the second one before the first.
  8. I genuinely believe that is a better spelling of the word.
  9. Is this current? Looks too early in spring for that phase of leaf production. It’s a ridiculous ask as the tree is out of focus, but judging by form I’d say an oak (in about a months time!)
  10. What’s your point here?
  11. Looks like lime, but could well be Norway maple. I’d hang fire on the burning pitchforks for the moment. I’m burning lime at the moment mixed in with other stuff, it’s ok.
  12. You know what BAFTAS stands for right?
  13. I haven’t seen any of the films, but I see where you’re coming from. Giving awards for ‘art’ is always going to be subjective and liable to abuse. Paddington 2 and Hugh Grant didn’t get Oscars which was a scandal imo.
  14. I couldn’t watch all of it but he pretty much pressed all my buttons. ’educating clients’ Stopping tree surgery start up firms by colluding with insurance companies to prevent cover. MORE tree officers! More regulation. ’where’s the love of trees rather than money?’ Needs to blow his nose.
  15. One with the dog, 9 March 2020 with the Multione, 15 March 2021. last one today 13 March, late spring here for sure.
  16. I saw something on twitter that said the BBC couldn’t have handled it worse if they’d stood there and punched themselves in the face repeatedly.
  17. It’s just how it works out, I do plant hedges occasionally after removal and grinding of the old one. Most clients want to think about a new tree rather than incorporate it in the felling/grinding process on the day, plus it’s not always the right time of year to replant. Finally and most importantly tree surgeons charge strong money for their work. Paying top money to one for a simple job like that doesn’t sit right with many private clients.
