  1. The issue of sharpening spikes comes up from time to time. The very lightest of touches is needed, if you get too heavy handed and alter the length or angle of attack they're all but unusable.
  2. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/members-only/50587-when-clients-help.html I knew we'd had a similar thread! Started by me, all went a bit Pete Tong actually....
  3. "Devaluing the industry" classic nonsense. Anyway, back to the thread, I've had both ends of the spectrum this week, two older guys trying to help us out on a cherry picker roadside job that I had to basically tell to go away, then a day later another retiree, who said he HAD to help, put on a helmet, responded to directions and gave the groundy a helping hand enabling us to finish before the rain set in. One of my "lines" I use to get rid of a potentially dangerous helper is to say "I have a proud record of never having killed a single client......at least before I've received the cheque" cue awkward laughter and a retreating client, with no bruised pride. I saw take each "helpful customer" as they come.
  4. I'm with Vespasian on this, I have found super positive people are teetering on the edge of a big fall and over compensate till they can no longer keep it up. I don't blame other people for dragging me down and find the idea of choosing who I surround myself with based on how they rate on a positivity/negativity scale daft.
  5. Alright, I'll bite:001_smile: which TW has a better performance than the ST8?
  6. Thanks guys, appreciate it.
  7. Inside of the bonnet showing residue and finger wipe.
  8. Ok, question for you other owners. All going well, I changed the hydraulic oil filter on 20 hrs. I've noticed the hydraulic oil level has dropped below the line, it's not a panic as a clean stick has shown there's plenty in there. There is no leak from the replaced hydraulic filter cartridge holder, all I can find is this "blowout" from what I presume is the breather or something from the tank. I've taken photos of the residue, is this normal? Has anyone else got this? Machine works fine.
  9. My favourite thread, love all the pics.
  10. Everyone is different, I go to bed at 10.15 ish partly out of fatigue and boredom. If I get passed 10.30 I sort of get a second wind and can go through to midnight with no ill effect. I always wake up at about 3.30 and stare into the inky blackness for an hour or so.
  11. Field or Norway maple as an "educated" guess.
  12. Nothing too extraordinary yet, agreed.
  13. The fin thing is the least likely, but they're made of cheese so they can crack off and disappear, you would notice a lot more vibration anyway. Huck is right in what he says about the margin for error on these machines the anvil rounds off quickly and greener, stringy material doesn't get chopped it passes past the blades and can clog up the chute. Get some pics up of the anvil, blades and the bits Bob described and you'll get some definitive answers.
  14. Well, not long now, I always enjoy it, couldn't care less who wins. We'll see who gives us the biggest laugh.....
  15. Initially I'd say the anvil is worth looking at, then blades and fins behind the disc. If it's not one or a combination of these things I'd be surprised.
  16. It's astonishing how many tree ids on here are goat willows.
  17. Good one Ben, up to your high standards, good rope work on the ground as well. It wouldn't be a stihlmad vid without your shouts of encouragement to yourself. "I'll take that as a win!" Love it.
  18. Just Google british radio, If you have internet you can get any radio you want.
  19. I love cedars, branches snap off well, chips like a dream, grows fast, dies faster. Always a good day taking those down.
  20. I would say 100 quid for a knackered semi pro saw is a bit on the steep side. In perfect working order meebees.
  21. [ame] [/ame] Say what you like about Gerrard, he knew how to deal with Fellani....
  22. I enjoy the Flatmeister's pics..........but I have to say the novelty has worn off with that filter Ian.
