  1. The Charentaise Rondinaud slipper ? Port Franc In a strange twist I have worked at the factory owners house, Monsieur Rondinaud. Great bloke, let me talk in French for a good half hour till he tired of listening to me mangling his lingo and broke into perfect English. The prices are for originals, mine were picked up for a tenner from supermarche.
  2. Authentic charentaise slippers is what the cognescenti are in these days...
  3. Yes I'm sure you're right. I never will though.
  4. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/97599-things-i-havent-done-without-consequence.html I've never polished my chainsaw boots, I have to say the biggest problem I get is the soles separating from the uppers, would that be solved by polishing? That happened more when I was doing lots of conny hedges, getting my foot stuck in a fork and yanking it free. Here's a picture of my boots to enhance your Friday night. I don't know their names.
  5. Nasty awkward stuff done well, thanks for posting. Were the stumps left like that to keep the slope secure? Robinia coppices pretty well.
  6. So where is it to be found?
  7. Sorry, missed this post. Explain "wind up" please. Could you mean that if I spin the wheels a bit on mud it'll "unwind" and be easier to come out of 4wd?
  8. Looks good Bob, but I'm a simple soul. I'm going to visit my brother in Yorkshire later on this month, I'll pick up a cheaper one there.
  9. I've always done my TW by feel, apart from when a blade came off and ruined the anvil and pocket it's been fine!
  10. IMO, you'd be better off replacing the whole tree. It's possible it would regrow to form a tree of some description, but it could also die very quickly. Maybe plant one nearby and retain your "stump tree" see what happens. Get some deer guards of course!
  11. The first two posts in this thread seem a bit too contrived to be true IMO
  12. Goddam it, I'm going to sell mine and buy a Jensen because of that. Curse you God for playing such a foul trick on me!
  13. Count yourself lucky, €350 for a facom one here.
  14. I love this viz take on the whole diet industry.
  15. And me (buying the better torque wrench) that's my job for the day it seems.
  16. Grinding bigger domestic stumps is all about getting rid of the grindings, if you're wheel barrowing it out of the garden onto a truck on your own it can be a dispiriting experience. Also the tools you bring can make a difference, sometimes a fork will be needed to lift the stuff, sometimes a shovel, a big blower is good, plus a power broom. Another tip is never to reload the grinder before its all clean and tidy because you're always going to find another running root in the final clear up.
  17. That machine should have both those stumps done by lunchtime. Seriously. Edit, at least by the end of the day, the lime is not small.
  18. Does seem odd "here's my price but I will go cheaper" If it works for you I guess.
  19. Almost certainly leaf mould in the cavity, but better safe than sorry I guess.
