  1. It's pointless railing against low rent tree workers, totally pointless. They'll always be there, because it's easy money at the low end of the spectrum. Apple trees, ladder work, hedges etc, no need for fancy gear or training. If you're consistently losing significant work then "skill up" or get some equipment then they won't enter your universe. It's like some people are saying "I wish they'd all stop so people can't use them (and save money) and I can put my prices up" Not going to happen.
  2. '''Tis I with the 076, still for sale. £250 (Thanks Simon)
  3. Ok, explain, "pulling all the nice jobs out of the industry" And "doing something other than tree work in their spare time"
  4. No, seems strange. In this day and age of iPads/phones etc a few days work should supply enough images. IF you do the work of course
  5. Nonsense, the more idiots, hackers, gardeners with ropes and ladders the better. Lowers the bar, makes the better equipped, more experienced amongst us look like the A Team. They'll always be low rent firms in the business because it's an easy buck at the low end.
  6. Then that's what it means, good, answering a need. Been hatracking a bit myself this week.
  7. It's just a word, probably meaning crown reduction. Unfurl the twisted knickers gents.
  8. Maybe back it on and rest the arm on the loading ramp?
  9. Thank Rich. I honestly know less now than when started the thread!
  10. They're both brand new out of the box chains. The middle one of Dave's drawings seems to be it.
  11. Thanks Darrin, I can never be arsed with ordering off the Internet. Far too lazy
  12. I'm looking and looking and saying to myself "why isn't this hazel?" Then I'm thinking "who would not recognise hazel?" Maybe I'm nuts.
  13. Cheers Stubs, I figured there was a different file, guy didn't know anything about it.
  14. It's a fair question, as stated the pompiers here are usually fairly competent with "rural skills" Surely a two day course in basic bucking/compression/chainsaw basics would help the urban firemen, keep them off the porn for a bit anyways.
  15. Hi Mark, I popped in and he told me that they buy it in the boxes from Stihl already cut to length. He said to use an ordinary round file, is that right? (Chain cost €18 ex vat) As for the cutting, very nice indeed, very fast, doing a series of oak and acacia takedowns ATM so got the last loop they had in stock. What's this black art about sharpening these chains? If I'm honest I'd give myself a solid 7/10 with a file, I'll give it a go, but if it's a balls up at that price I'd throw one of these chains on for a couple of days if I had some bigger stuff to TD then bin it.
  16. We're not "destroying" our bodies. That's overdramatising it to the nth degree.
  17. Tbf agrimog, you're right, the industrial athlete thing is laughable.
