  1. What will happen if I put a 12" bar and chain on a ported ms880? You will travel back in time 30 years and resist your own mothers amorous advances.
  2. Ahhhhh, thank you, did not know that. Édit, looking at the skirt it's obvious.
  3. Ime it's best to use the wheel from 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock if you see what I mean, if you use the back of the wheel it grabs and transfers the energy back down the machine.
  4. Anyone know what tree this is? If you're taking it down can I have some for turning? (You know who you are:001_smile:)
  5. Seems an odd way to grind, from the back to the front.
  6. I am thinking of buying a machine of some sort. Buy the same machine as me to validate my choice.
  7. As you know I've had a couple of Raycos. Big fan, the current rg35 is a damn fine machine. The only problem is it's not 4wd which can be a pita. My mate has the tracked version which overcomes those problems. My only advice is don't go hydro, and go Yank if you can.
  8. Bit of fun, although I'm sure it'll turn to death threats. Take one of the most popular threads on here and précis it in two sentences. Some are actual, some are generic ones repeated under different guises. 1. I've had enough of furriners. Go and pick your own lettuce then you racist. 2. I'm skint in London. I've got a job up north! 3. I want to start in the industry! Your dreams will crumble into dust you idiot. 4. What do you all think of this chainsaw? You're a fool who will die alone and screaming. 5. Everybody must use alkalte fuels! Shut up you nutter, it costs a bloody fortune. 6. I want to buy this 4wd. Buy one of those and I'll kill you for your own good.
  9. I've got a 395xp, it's a good saw, well done. I run all my saws on Stihl or Husky two stroke at the recommended 50.1
  10. If you're spiking up a single stem tie your rope in a bundle and attach it to your belt. Keep shorter ropes, too many peeps using 200 ft of rope for a 40ft tree. In an ideal world your rope should be just long enough to rappel down to the ground.
  11. Crikey theres a thread. Ms066 bought for £100 in 1998 just sold for €350 never given me a moments bother.
  12. In fact it was previously nominated by yours truly....
  13. "Use me" by Bill Withers is about as good as it gets. Excellent choice.
  14. I've thought about it a bit and I'll elaborate. Climbing, felling, grinding, all that stuff I've been doing for a long time. It's ok, can be fun but it's all a bit routine now. What I really enjoy is the business, going out on a Saturday afternoon, pricing a half dozen or so jobs. Chatting with a new client, listening and discussing with them what (I think!) they want. Getting the OK, doing the job using all the machinery then driving home, leaving a happy client who has presented me with a nice big cheque. That still gives me a buzz.
  15. I reckon 300kg max. I try not to overload it as I'm told it's likely to ruin the pump. I'm told, and I defer to the more knowledgeable, that a standard gearbox would be more robust for doing lots of lifting.
  16. The Kubotas are just rebadged Giants, nut and bolt. Can't be too bad if Kubota are prepared to put their name to it. Honestly though, I'm no engineer so I cannot give you definitive conclusions, but I did a lot of research and not one bad review came out on the Giant. They're built in Holland so prolly a bit more pricey what with the Euro/pound thing.
  17. I don't hate it, and the money comes in handy! So you want to be an electrician? Here's some careers advice.....(I know, I know, but some people may not have seen it) [ame] [/ame]
  18. Stv36 (apologies for yet another picture!) I very nearly pulled the trigger for a Giant telescopic loader, which would be better, but not €30000 better. End of this year maybe.
  19. In this situation it was ideal, stacking cord length ways on the truck, in a tight front yard.
  20. The digger with a grab or thumb is an option. If you can get the truck close enough for loading it's a real time/back saver. (As in this pic) I've all but stopped using mine since I got the compact tractor with a grab. It opened my eyes to hydraulic assistance though!
