  1. Time to lays off the pies though Mark.
  2. Your link didn’t embed, this was it wasn’t it?
  3. Lads/lasses on full time Mick or subbie as and when? 3 does seem to mean your actually still human at the end of day not just a monosylabic sofatard. One on the books, one as and when, suits everyone.
  4. Three men and a machine, seems to be the magic combo. Everyone working steady but consistently and efficiently.
  5. Big hairy Douglas, technically easy, logistically a headache as it was a distance from the yard, 10 cube of chip and a couple of trailers of logs and rakings. We discovered a more efficient method of clearing the myriad of branches, I dump a dozen or so, the grab comes in pulls them away from the tree towards the chipper so the lads can get busy whilst I drop another load. Works faster than parking the chipper closer and unpicking the pile by hand while I twiddle my thumbs.
  6. “If you lot don’t stop asking if we’re nearly there yet I’ll turn this bus around, then none of you will get to see Salisbury cathedral!”
  7. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45509697 This is an own goal by The Russians. Terribly stage managed interview. They couldn’t look more like agents plus the carefully trotted out Wikipedia facts about Salisbury. (Height of spire, oldest working clocks etc.) The British side must be opening the champagne as we speak.
  8. All four of them may well be right, there are few absolutes or certainties in retaining a tree that can damage property. If you like, post a few pictures with some of the options suggested (not naming the companies involved of course) and see how many other opinions you can collect!
  9. Ok, you’ll need someone with a hydraulic splitter, an axe isn’t going to do that lot easily, and they’ll need paying, I doubt anyone would do it for wood. Not being snarky, just preparing you.
  10. So the stems of the yew were no good?
  11. Apparently not, they’re shamelessly worn by tree perching, recorder playing sorts
  12. I’ve just discovered they’re called harem pants, a la MC Hammer, but at least he washed
  13. On me holibobs atm, in Saint Palais on the Atlantic coast, crusty sort climbed up a small cedar and played his recorder in the town centre, was wearing festival pants, bloke thought he was some kind of dude, even his dog thought he was a wanker (you could see it in the dogs eyes) If you wear/have worn in the last 12 months/don’t consider the wearing of festival pants to be a criminal offence then it’s over between us.
  14. Yes the inclusion is the line. It’s very big for a willow, lovely specimen. I am suggesting more radical cutting, not necessarily to leave a V sign but certainly start a pollard cycle. Others may differ, of course. I have battered countless willows like this and seen them come back fine, they do turn their toes up very fast when the mood takes them though, nothing’s guaranteed.
  15. Judging by that inclusion I’d say it’s time to get radical. There has been some major topping as well as more judicious trimming in the past. If it does date from the 50s it’s pretty old for one of those.
  16. Apart from liability issues, why be so lazy that you can’t find a suitable tree in the woods? There’s bloody millions of them out there.
  17. I can understand why people don’t want you to climb trees in a local park. Go onto the woods, but go with someone else or tell someone where you’re going for safety reasons.
  18. Because it appeared to be a rhetorical question. https://www.google.fr/search?q=rhetorical+questions&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-fr&client=safari
  19. Interesting stuff, learning some things I didn’t know.
  20. Anyway, I think this needs a new thread, any snappy titles..?
  21. Arbtalk at its best, tackling the big issues of the day!:) i have no clue as to his/her sexual proclivities, just coming to terms with it myself.
